Just a heads up guys, Stoke Loud and Proud are trying to get a minute's applause for Mabel going at the Norwich game, because she used to travel on Coach 1 to away games (yeah, I dunno either).
So if there's a slightly over exuberant start to the match in the stands at least you guys know why.
Not a clue how many will partake as they're still drumming up interest but it seems a bizarre. I mean were it at the start of the season or in the week of her funeral for example sure, but it just feels like it's being shoehorned in to become a weekly thing now, no offence to her of course.

1. Have they asked Mabel's family?
2. What minute are they planning to do it?

1. Have they asked Mabel's family? 2. What minute are they planning to do it? The first minute (Coach 1) and not as far as I'm aware from the discussions I've read mate. Seems a bit strange.

Very silly to attempt this without consulting her family about it. I'm out.

With the greatest respect to those who have passed, this is getting fucking ridiculous now. A forced, poorly observed 'tribute' is no tribute at all and the whole thing is not only cheapening the act of rememberance but press-ganging great swathes of our support into becoming mawkish grief tourists. Save it for the official end of year tribute, it's much more fitting.

Surely she deserves better than half the ground clapping with half of those not knowing what the hell they're clapping for.
More attention seeking bullshit from the Facebook saddo's.

I think there was on at Arsenal on Sunday. There was an unusual round of applause. None of the commentators noticed it and there was no indication of what it might have been for.

When I kick the bucket can I request a minutes booing and chants of "Wanker, wanker, wanker"? That really would make me smile.

The club should have sorted it for the palace game in my opinion. She was a real cult figure at stoke and dedication like she showed should be celebrated.

Yeah, if anyone deserved a proper, official tribute at the game then it was Mabel. People die every day, and while it's sad and everything, I don't expect 28,000 people who've never met me to give a shit when I cark it. However, Mabel was known by everybody and she deserves better than some half-arsed round of applause that only about 1,000 people know the meaning of.

These in game clapping minutes are a bit shit, usually at least half the people dont know what's going on and by the time everyone has realised we've had about 57 seconds

I was one who emailed asking whether a one off would be appropriate. That said, on reflection, I can see why the club would want to keep recognition of even Mrs Stoke City to a single End Of Season Tribute. And we didn't have one of those, not all that long ago. Now that we finally do, every effort should be made to support it, I think. As others have said - and not that it effects me, not being back Wom any longer - I think all tributes would be better saved for the One-Day. It's only leading to a bit of supporter division and to apathy, with the almost game-by-game tributes to someone. Everyone is important to someone, and as many have testified on 'ere, over the years, it is a great help to share - and see shared - personal grief at someones passing. But even with that - and to an extent becaue of it - as a club (including as a set of supporters) I think it would be better to support that One Day. (no offense intended to any one)

Why don't we play in all red and start talking in scouse accents.
The way it's going we may as well applaud for 90 minutes a game just to ensure no one is forgotten.

I don't want to come across as a cruel, unsympathetic, heartless bastard but I'm getting a tadge fucked off with all this inane showering of sympathy that is being foisted up on us at what seems every stoke game, I go to football to escape the humdrum pressures and tribulations of life and once I am in that stadium I want to forget about all the shit & pressure that life & employment brings and get on with enjoying myself, wear a black armband or something if you want to stand out that you are one of life's sensitive caring sorts but fuck this stupid stand up and clap shit off or it will become what it is....Damn fucking annoying and meaningless.

Surely she deserves better than half the ground clapping with half of those not knowing what the hell they're clapping for. More attention seeking bullshit from the Facebook saddo's. Absolutely. We have had 2 home games, 3 if you include Walsall, since Mabel so sadly passed away and this smacks of being a mere afterthought. The club should have arranged a minutes silence for her on the opening home fixture of the season. She was a very special lady who was known to more or less every single match going Stoke fan, young and old. She was a one-off but the time has passed now. The applause on a matchday is, frankly, becoming absolutely ridiculous now.

So, their plan is to arrange a minutes applause in the first minute against Norwich for Mabel?
The club should have done something against Crystal Palace for Mabel. But this isn't the right way to do things. Stokes biggest fan in our 150 years of being a football club receives a minute of half arsed clapping (most of which don't even know why they're clapping, and no doubt will be annoyed that there is ANOTHER applause, what is this, the 331th game on the trot now?) in the first minute, where half the ground wont even be seated against NORWICH? All set up by a group of people who live on Facebook.
This is the best they can think of? Why don't they put out a message asking people to make banners, or bring scarves with them? It'd be great to see a ton of banners around the ground for Mabel. Much better than a minutes applause. Come up with a song for her, even if its just chanting her name.
There are a number of posters on here that make banners, right? Would it be possible to make a huge banner that can be passed around the Boothen for the last game of the year? I'd happily put a few quid towards it

SL&P now say they've got the family's blessing to do it. But I agree, it's not the time to do it to be honest. So Mabel's family were an afterthought in all of this then...? They just fancied being the circus masters for another half hearted, Liverpool-esque, mawkish minutes applause. The club need to gently remind fans of the remembrance day and big screen tribute available to mourn the passing of our fellow Stokies. It's turning into a farce as it is...
