I dont know Bayern, we shouldnt be too quick to judge players abilities. If we were any good at it mate, we'd be in the business. Not having a go, i'm the same, but right now we can't even dream of signing people like Wellbeck/Zaha/Oliveira. Our only hope is to loan, which for me is a great move now we have Hughes rather than Pulis. Now we can actually attract players like this, but more importantly, once we get talent here, I trust Hughes 100% to get to know them, school them, improve and impress them, giving us the best possible chance of signing class long term. Hughes is soo good at this its unreal, and could open up a whole new way of working with previously unatainable talent and moving us forward. I do agree, I just think we need players who are definitely better than we have, I don't think anyone can say he is and for sure we can't say he isn't either. But if he isn't we have to send him back after a year and go again, that I do not like. As it happens if Welbeck came on the marked I'd expect us to have a shot at signing him but unless something drastic happens I don't think he will be. And with this fella I don't see why not, he's highly thought of but has done nothing. A club of ours is the place those types usually end up at. And is suck a link with Benfica that good? If they've got talent they really like they will play them imo, they can't afford not to.

I thought Cartwright was there to identify targets for more than a season though? He'd been here for 8 months now and we're reduced to loaning strikers and bring them on for others? There really isn't a better option out there? Anywhere? It smacks of small time to me, that and slashed budgets. for more than a season? Was that specific in his appointment or just something to suit the argument? So our head of recruitment can't find anyone who we can actually sign, just players we can rent for exorbitant fees. Nice one Carto.

According to that then, Rennes will have a buyout clause on him but we weren't going to? What's with that then? Have they offered than £1M for the loan?

Why would he even want to go there? Surely the lure of the Premier League would be more attractive than joining some French midtable plodders?

Cost cutting? I'd call it a shrewd way of getting decent cover in that could one day be a first teamer for us with a big sell on fee.

As for Sunderland, friendlies mean fuck all bar fitness, nothing to get worried over especially with that looney in charge.

In other news. Spurs just lost 3-1 in a season defining friendly v Sunderland after having brought in Brazilian star Paulinho and Belgian international Chadli.
They're now firm favourites for relegation.

Momo, who is to blame for this more stringent approach to transfers in your opinion?
Also, how can we be mentioned as about to sign Oliveira and then Rennes run the exact same story. Someone, somewhere is spouting bollocks.

"Bastien L. ?@puchkin_B 1h According to a highly reliable source, Nelson Oliveira should join Rennes on a one-year loan with a buyout clause" GUYSSSSS Probably just that alleged ITKer 'Fabius' on the Rennes forum. To be honest, a few of the posters on there do seem to take his word as gospel. But time will tell. I can't really see the attraction they'd have over the English league, but they do seem to have a really good manager who got Real Sociedad into the Champions League last season who for some reason has gone there. By the looks of their forum, they haven't got any cash to spend though

Just remember we paid over 500k for Ameobi on loan, it suddenly seems a bargain! He should have been so good for us but what a load of shit he was. He really was a poor version of Mama, I remember being so excited at the time, a Premier League striker!
