With there being more incline there was obviously more decline too. In general, do you make up more time going downhill than you lose going up, or vice versa? the Conwy half, you run up and down the Great Orme, I was doing 5 1/2 minute miles most of the way down, about 9 min miles on the way up, so did make up time on that section on the overall average time

Hills are easy wether on a bike or running
What makes them hard is trying to get up them as fast as you can to beat records PBs etc
Nothing more satisfying than getting up big hills

Since being ill I've turned into @orbs , 57 min 10k'S Hope you are going well mate How are you doing mate? Still not back to full fitness? OK thanks, getting a few miles in but the energy levels still not there, we both went feeling off again Monday and Tuesday, just managed a couple of miles walk, very strange this has been, hard to imagine somebody in ICU for 5 weeks with it what their recovery is going to be like.

I'm thinking of trying to do something positive and constructive whilst I'm on furlough.
I'm thinking of running 5 miles every day, for a month (30 days) and raising money for the NHS.
Quick question, whilst the distance itself isnt an issue, will doing it every day for 30 days without rest days, represent a "challenge"? I want it to be tough. I don't want it to be too easy, but I dont want to be reckless either and do too much. What are your thoughts on how difficult this would be?
I've been running for around 9 or 10 months. Normally 2 or 3 times a week. I've never run for 4 or 5 consecutive days. Half marathon is my longest distance as a one off run.

If you’re 20 something then it’ll be fine. If you’re an old fecker (over 50) then you might get some hip/knee issues.

I'd say you need to do a bit further for it to be a challenge to be honest. Maybe say 10k a day (it also sounds a lot further than 5 miles but isn't that much further). I think with your background of running you'd still manage this fairly easily. It's difficult to gauge though. As orbs says, a lot depends on you really. Have you had joint issues ever when you've done 3 longish days in a row?

Piece of piss just don't blast it every day. Warm up, warm down choose the flattest route and take it slowly. No sub 5 minute miles

7.1 miler this morning along the canal and the river path in Stoke up to the Harvester roundabout by the stadium, back down and up to Hanford on the opposite side averaged 6:59 per mile so I'm happy with that.

Walking for 30 miles a day isn't too difficult if you're in good shape, keep yourself well fueled and hydrated, and look after your feet. If you break it up into chunks it becomes even easier. I better stop. I can feel an anti-Izzard rant coming on. Deep breaths.

I've set the page up (see link above).
I may change it to 10km per day.
I plan on starting on Monday, so I'll think it over.
Any support appreciated 👍

5:08 minute mile this morning, hopefully get one under 5 soon. I'll never know what I could have done over a mile because I wasn't racing in my prime however I did get a third place on age grading in a 5 mile race three years ago. The age graded equivalent time that came along with it was 24:48 which would have placed me 4th at Alsager that year

I've done 4 min efforts along the canal through Congleton this morning. Socially distanced intervals along a tow path just don't work. I think I got 2 clean runs and a lot of death stares.

Yeah I'm avoiding the canals after all the death stares on my last run down there. I mean I was doing all my marathon training down there in the pissing rain in January and February, I should be giving them death stares.

YEEEES! Let's have it! you can also change London to Southampton in your description. That sounds loads further. And as Fel said just take it slow. 6 minute kms every day. No need to be flashy. Just make sure you're caring for yourself, sleeping/eating/drinking well and you won't have a problem. The only issue will be boredom in my experience, but it's best to do the flattest route you can. 5k down the BVW and back again.

I'd probably vary it as well and have a total mileage target, so 7 miles 1 day and 3 the next. Keeps it a bit more exciting for you.
