Pulis is running my patient dry with his outdated 1980s style of football management - championship relegation battles are about his forte!
If things dont improve next season I hope Peter Coates starts casting his eye around.
Im envious of Newcastle United this season and just look at how Norwich and Swansea have secured their Premiership status.
We need young blood on the pitch - just look at how fast Jerome was on the pitch yesterday.

Will you be envious of N'castle, Swansea and Nrwich next year if they are in a dog fight like they could be (altough i think N'Castle have a very good team, so i would be stunned if they went that far down the league). If Norwich and swansea didnt have Holt and the iclandic dude they would be deep in the shit.

It's all hyperthetical what you say about Newcastle and the fact is that Norwich and Swansea DO have those players. How screwed would we be without Crouch? and we COULD be in a dogfight next season. The fact is that the way Newcastle, Norwich and Swansea have played this season is admirable. Throwing arguments like they could be doing worse next season or would struggle without specific players could be said about any team.

TP prefer front of house ( first team ) and want the money. Clearly, he has no plan for young players at the club and it's bad for long term evolution of Stoke. Investing 8m£ in Jones for bench him seems more in TP plans. That doesn't mean he's not happy with investment in the academy though.. In fact, saying 'which is fantastic' would suggest the complete opposite. Read through the lines mate. He's hardly going to come out and denounce the plans of his employer, thats a one way ticket to unemployment. The OP is right, he's hinting that he doesnt agree with it.

After hearing what some players say, and also others with knowledge of what's going on at the club, I think TP shows signs of what's typical for a psychopath.

'send reinforcements, we are going to advance' thread is based upon a biased mis- interpetation of Pulis's remarks -totally and utterly I'd tend to agree if it was a remark or action in isolation, Tony. As you know full well it is not and therefore it is totally fair to interpret the remark as a rather negative comment.

Interesting watching and listening to the Villa v Stoke game agin this morning.
Several references to their younger players who have come through their academy. Of course they have been "thrown in at the deep end" to some extent with some high profile injuries at their club. Lacking in experience yes, playing alongside some experienced Premiership players - they will improve rapidly if they have the talent.
The £6M academy project over 3 years has to be seen as a bargain investment, both in supporting and retaining local talent and attracting others from further afield.

If it delivers players for the first team or players that they can sell-on for meaningful upfront income with additional performance clauses.

'Send three and fourpence we are going to advance' Still ignoring debate and giving the same one line? I'd be interested in why you think Pulis is good for youth development at Stoke City.

One angle would be to ask if would we be investing this amount of money to attract and develop the best young talent if we had not been promoted and stayed up. He is clearly not very motivated by it, but it's hard to argue he has not been good for it at this very point.

Totally agree, I was just saying this on Twatter! We need top class youth coaches to match the top class (hopefully) academy. In time they might be but for now we need guaranteed quality coaches. I think a combination of both would be ideal, wouldn't it? Get some top class youth coaches running the show with some of our older figureheads learning underneath them. Maybe, I'm just dead set against Pulis stooges!

Much has been discussed about the three year plan and the European distraction and failure of trhe wingers and Palacios to perform. If next year does see any positive change could it also indicate a shift in attitude towards the acadamy? Assuming the acadamy has anything to offer right now. our academy doesnt have much to offer though, this is the point tony is making Isn't that a worry in itself though? We're a good size club and even have been for the past 10 years, even when we were in League One. We should have a better youth set up than we do, TP is a big reason for why we don't. He's part of the problem in this area. Cant believe this thread has lasted so long - totally based upon an incorrect interpretation / summary of what Pulis said as I said ages ago - 'send three and fourpence - we are going to a dance' Even my Mum who couldn't give two fucks read it and said "Pulis really doesn't give a shit does he?"

My final two words on this truly urban myth (urban in Stoke Upon Trent - nowhere else) Shotton and Wilkinson Correct to a point. What of the others? FYI, Andy Wilkinson signed pro at Stoke City in 2001 having been in the youth since 1998. Ryan Shotton signed pro-terms in 2007 after playing Academy football and has developed under Tony Pulis.

The 'one' that's been developed under TP just happens to have a long throw on him, marvelous coincidence?
