Goodness knows what we're supposed to do here. Appearances for Upson, Shotton, Whelan and Jones are pretty much nailed on, I think. It depends on how seriously we're taking it, but there's absolutely no harm in resting our players who are still not quite fit or nursing injuries - Etherington in particular, but also Delap, Wilson and Jerome) ready for the game against Manchester United. It also depends on whether or not we're going to make any drastic changes for the game at the weekend. If Palacios isn't ready, then we might give him an hour, or we could leave him out of the squad and focus on building up his fitness levels for Manchester United.
We could go with the 5-3-1-1 from the Kiev game, but if that's not asking for a bland 2-0 defeat then I don't know what is. At best we'd get a 0-0 draw and the last thing we want is extra time.
What do we do? Play the reserves, give it a real go or put out a half and half team?

Nash/Sorensen
Shotton - Davies - Upson - Wilkinson
Soares - Cuvelier - Arismendi - Tonge - Pugh
Jones Wouldn't be surprised to see Diao in there either.

Funnily enough I still think we'll go through as I expect Spurs to field a young side and we'll sneak it on home advantage alone.

When we won promotion, we played 8 games more than we will in the Prem and we had a much much smaller squad. As TP said in his interview, professional footballers don't know they are born. I expect a strong team and victory on Tuesday.

Play a strong team and win. The likes of Wilko, Shotton, Upson, Tonge, Soares, Crouch, Jerome, Palacios and Arismendi have hardly been overworked this season. Winning games increases confidence.

Why are people so quick to piss on our own heritage? We're in it to win it, a lot of people thought the same about Pulis in Europe.
I fully expect a decent side to be played on Tuesday, come on Stoke!

You can push it so far, but not that far. Listen to TP. "They need a rest after Kiev, it was a long journey to get here" ;D You really think he'd play the same 11? For starters Sorensen/Nash will play. Shotton, Cuvelier, Arismendi and Pugh too.

Only 3 of today's starters started in Kiev. He said today's team had no excuse to be tired and then mentioned the miners as further evidence that footballers are over pampered. I wouldn't like to be in their shoes until they have put this result to bed. The only way TP will let them do that is by winning on Tuesday night.

Do you still stand by your theory that all 11 from today will play on Tuesday? For starters the keeper will 100% change and I already know one of the players who didn't play today will be playing on Tues. ;D

Tone will pick his team for next weekend and work back, trying not to play too many of them on Tuesday. I'm not that fussed about Tuesday, and I think neither is Tone, He will play those who are not in the League or European squads I reckon, so I expect to see Danny P play his last game for us, and for Tonge n Soares to get a run out too.
Sorensen
Shotton Huth/Shawcross Upson Wilkinson
Soares Pugh Diao Tonge
Crouch Walters

If there's one competition I'm really not fussed about - it's the Carling Cup........ It's going to be interesting to watch two teams, neither of which particularly want to progress!! Did I read somewhere however, that if we win we are into the final 16??????? ???

Or something to that effect, I can't see Pulis caring much for the carling cup. I would like to see cuvelier get a match or atleast 20 mins from off the bench. I'm a bit gutted that I've bought the tickets to be honest as I can't see us doing very well with a C team on.

I don't think any of the Spurs players who started in our 4-0 win over Liverpool yesterday afternoon will line-up at Stoke on Tuesday night. Much will depend on the injury situation of half a dozen of our players waiting to get a match, but I suspect Harry will opt for this formation... Gomes
Fredericks - Corluka - Bassong - Townsend
Falque - Livermore - Carroll - Dos Santos
Kane - Pavlyuchenko
