Ah, the Stokie "end justifies the means" defence. Vintage. As opposed to the Steve Bruce philosophy = no end justifies spending a fortune. With a profit in the transfer market whilst manager? More research required......

Clarify please.....so what you are saying is that you are happier with financial gain than success on the football field??? In that case you obviously have the right man.

@nqdp How would you know - given that the match wasn't 'in the news'...? Logged on here and saw a large portion of your own fans discussing how "awful" and "thuggish" it was. Simples. Large portion? We're not talking about chips, you dick. I think you mean 'proportion'.

A stellar argument had Bruce not improved the squad and overseen consistent improvements in both points gained and league position attained in each year of his tenure. Whilst turning a profit.

Limited old Stoke have still beaten you to a major final and a place in Europe though NQ. Funny old game eh. Good luck in the biggest game of your season tomorrow, I'll go and scout who we might face in the group stage of a huge European trophy in the knowledge of how inferior we are to Sunderland.

I used to quite like Sunderland and detest Newcastle but single-handedly you have turned that on it's head. Come on the Geordies.

Large portion? or 2/3? Got the result we needed, end of. Ah, the Stokie "end justifies the means" defence. Vintage. There's a difference between denial and acceptance. In the past we've had no choice other than to play direct route one football, as we didn't have the quality of players to compete at this level. Over time, we've introduced quality into the side and our style has begun to evolve - plain to see to anyone who actually watches us week to week (and not just on MOTD). Plenty of factors led to last night's performance being less than our best - injuries to some of our key players, a playing surface that we're not used to, players drafted in who haven't played in a competitive game together before... I'm not excusing any of the fouls committed, but that's exactly what they were - fouls. Nothing less, nothing more. Huth made a rash poor challenge and was rightly yellow carded for it. What amazes me is the inference that Sunderland must play 'beautiful' carpet football compared to 'dirty old Stoke' - it's baffling. There are very few sides in the PL who don't go direct from time to time and I've seen plenty of Sunderland to realise they're fairly comparable to many others, including Stoke. You're a Joke man.

Don't remember you beating us to anything? You seem to be under the impression that SAFC have never played in an FA Cup Final and whilst I appreciate that last season's was the first for your tin pot club, I would suggest that you do at least the most basic research before making outlandish claims about other clubs which make you look a little bit silly. "Huge European Trophy"?!?! Are you on crack? Our League is represented in it this year by: Stoke - who qualified by beating the likes of Brighton, West Ham, and Cardiff; Fulham - who qualified by picking up a low number of bookings; Tottenham reserves - who would rather not be there but did at least qualify properly through the results attained by their senior colleagues last season against comparable opposition over 38 games; and Championship Birmingham. Doesn't exactly smack of "Huge European Trophy" does it? Really? You played a Swiss pub team last night in front of about 8000 people which was only viewable on internet streams. Don't try and convinve yourself it's particularly glamourous. God knows you've got no chance of convincing the rest of us.

Atletico Madrid, Lazio, Roma, PSV, PSG, Schalke, Atletico Bilbao.
Jealousy is an ugly emotion.

Do you really believe Disco is not jealous and actually thinks The Europa is rubbish?
Ask yourself, would you spend all your time and make numerous posts about something you don't care about?
He hasn't stopped banging on about it, he's obviously a tad upset.

I'm talking about modern times you moron, you know when we have been "lucky" to finish above you for two seasons out of three, been to a major final playing four PREMIER LEAGUE sides along the way and now having a whale of a time in Europe with some of the biggest clubs around just over the horizon. Enjoy your two bald men fighting over a comb charade that nobody outside of a 20 mile radius gives a flying fuck about tomorrow.

On the contrary, I simply detest Pulis attitude to the sport and willingness to deliberately try to spoil football matches. Your back door qualification for the Europa League was thrown at me as "evidence" for how good you were and I've therefore just taken to pointing out how playing in the Europa League has long since stopped being the mark of achievement it once was.

Someone who isn't bothered would not spend hours telling us how not bothered he actually is ;D He's been made to look stupid from day 1 yet he still doesn't give up, i suppose you have to praise him for his determination. If only his team had the same mentality, then maybe he would be on his own board talking about another good away win in european football instead of 'trying' to ridicule stoke for being in the competition. He is seriously embarrassing his fellow Sunderland fans

Not really, the game against Notts County served it's purpose for us. Da Silva, Angeleri, Riveros, Colback, Reid, Ferdinand etc all got a chance to play for once. Shame not to win the game but I think Bruce, like the majority of top-flight League managers these days, made it quite clear in his team selection that he wasn't going to lose any sleep over it. Shame whats happened to the FA Cup in my opinion. I'm still relatively young but even I can remember when it used to count for more than a chance to keep the reserves happy.
