The Man City hammering and getting relegated. Birmingham 7 0 defeat was horrible to take as well

The Man City game for me too. Spent the journey home with me mate in total silence. We didnt even speak as he got out of the car. Nothing that could ever happen in the Prem could ever be as depressing as any of the times mentioned above, we really have been through some desperate times and quite a few on this board need to realise that. It puts a 2-0 defeat to the League Champions into perspective!! Me and brother drove all the way back to Scotland in silence after that game. Can look back now at how bonkers and surreal that day was but it was a proper low point.

Relegation in 77 was a low moment as it was the first really awful event in my career as a Stoke fan.

Losing at home to Blyth Spartans in the FA Cup - desperate feeling.
Then the 0-7 against Birmingham

Losing to Stockport in 3rd division playoff semi - on the day I was inconsolable (tired and emotional - ok pissed😄) - tempered slightly by beating them at Wembley a week or two later and them losing the playoff final as well..........but really thought it was "our" year....

Near enough the entire 98-99 season. 1-4 home defeats to Burnley and Bristol Rovers. The 0-4 at home to Reading the 1-3 at home to Wrexham. A truly truly terrible season

Hope seemed to have left the club, the second half of the season was as bad as it got in my time, including 84/85. I really didn't see how we could get back to the second level, let alone the top league.

A truly truly terrible time

Difficult to top the inevitable 3-0 defeat away at Newcastle to send us down to the third for only the second time ever and first time since the twenties. I never thought we'd ever be that bad. Little did I know at the time that it'd happen again, but 97-98 just seemed a continuation of general shitness and not quite so devastating. More recently, losing 2-1 at Chelsea in our first season up still hurts.

Relegation on Easter Monday, bricked by toon fans outside, a fight at Derby station with Plymouth fans (I think). Then as the train slowed down for Stoke station, the Victoria Ground came into view and everyone instinctively moved to look at the Boothen, and everyone was completely silent, until someone said 'We're a third division club now'. Let's remember that this was also a Peter Coates creation.

When we got relegated along with Man City, there were City fans scattered all over the Brit! (Sorry 365) and the play offs are probably on par in 99 2000 season.

Blyth Spartans 2-3.
I had seen us batter Tilbury in the 3rd round 4-0 and thought all non-league teams would be as easy.
I was 10 so I didn't know any better.
Almost 19K there as well.

Seeing the Spanish newspaper headlines on the morning of the game at The Mestalla. Never before had I experienced such a kick in the balls... What did it say

I would say losing 6-0 at Forest in 2003 in our first season back in the championship. Forest beat us without breaking sweat, i think it was 5-0 at half time, We were rock bottom, miles from safety and it looked for all the world we were going back down to league 1 yet again. All hope seemed lost, and I wasn't optimistic that we could even compete in the league below. The icelandics had lost interest and we were still pissed off about Gudjon being sacked, Quiterill, and TP hadn't worked his magic yet. Fortunately, we had the great escape master-minded by TP, but it seemed a world away at 5pm on that Saturday afternoon.
