Another one for 0-7 against Birmingham in 1997/98.
I remember now that I didn't talk to anyone for days after that game.

Pre season friendly against Linfield in Belfast
Going to the game - looking at the team in the programme - Garth Crooks number 11 - teams come out - no Garth Crooks - asked the question (I was in the directors box) - "We sold him to Spurs this morning" How to destroy an 11 year olds world - Upside - Lee Chapman scored 4 and I had a new hero - but still gutted I never got to meet Garth
And Blyth Spartans - that was a shit day to go into school on the Monday!!!

Gordon Banks car crash and then the sale of Jimmy Greenoff/John Richie, Butler Street roof coming down and the mighty impact that event had on the clubs finances at that time oh and any game we ever lost!

The cup defeats to Vale in 92-93. How low can you go? We romped the league but had to give Boslem a lifetime of memories in the same season. You want a small clubs fans mentality? Then see them revel in Dave Regis' stick in the mud shot more than their own teams goals that night.
The only reason they got the chance to rub our noses in it was because we were so wank and we sank to nearly their level (they happened to be one league above their natural height)
The worst thing was where i worked at the time (Rists in Newcastle) all the people i worked with who were gloryhunters sided with Vale and took so much pride in taking the piss!
It's nice though to see that now things really are just how they used to be when i started following Stoke. We are in the top flight and Vale are slumming it in the depths along with Crewe!

Even though 90-91 was the lowest league placing, and had plenty of away day surrenders (Wigan, cambride, Huddersfield etc), there was a sense of hope I felt. However, the second half of 98/99 when it seemed anyone could turn up at the Brit and win by four goals was my lowest moment(s). Back then you never saw a path back to the top flight.

Although there have been lower moments, the one that had me wondering most forcefully why I bother was watching a combination of Oldham's ruthlessly efficient drill, and Martin Carruther's ruthfully inefficient football brain, cause the linesman to flag for his 25th offside decision of the first half.

Coming back from hillsboro in 71 after being robbed of place in the final and again following year at goodison i agree. Did the Goodison one but in its own context the Gillingham shamples (Styles) left me feeling bereft.

Gordon Banks car crash and then the sale of Jimmy Greenoff/John Richie, Butler Street roof coming down and the mighty impact that event had on the clubs finances at that time oh and any game we ever lost! This. Also finding ourselves falling so badly that we were forced to play the fail and crwho. Getting battered by Robbie Fowler when Liverpool slaughtered us. Moving from the Victoria Ground to The Brit

Hearing Sir Stan had died just as I was driving past what used to be the Victoria ground. Echo your comments there. Without a doubt the lowest moment. Also, the day Stoke sold Jimmy Greenhoff; the club never recovered from that. Greenhoff sold to pay for wind damage to the stand. Kenwyne Jones is hardly worth a dozen seats.

Aside from the obvious, losing for Vale etc, we played at home to Palce on a Monday night on SKY about 6/7 years ago. It was winter, freezing and we lost 3-1 or 3-0. There must have been 10,002 in the ground and for some reason I started to wonder WFT was I doing there.

In my time at going Stoke since 1992, it's probably getting relegated to league 1 in 1998 when we lost 5-2 to Man City. In current times the Fa cup final, it still hurts when I think about it

The defeat to Blyth Spartans. Also the away game at Swindon Town in 1989-90 season where we lost 6-0, Mick Mills was almost condemned, hovering like a vulture was Alan Ball. However, the pulling down of the Victoria Ground, affected me deeply. I was living in Campbell Road at the time, every day i had to go past and witness the old girl being pulled down. I always felt like part of my very soul was being eradicated with every section that was demolished. I genuinely had bad dreams about it for months after.

Going to Macclesfield to watch us away to Chester, it was the moment that I panicked that I may have to watch football in stadiums like that for years because we looked rooted in the old 3rd. Losing 8-0 to Liverpool in the League Cup wasn't great either given where i now live. Weeks I copped that one for, bloody weeks.

In current times the Fa cup final, it still hurts when I think about it What hurts the most is that it was so anti climatic after the semi final. We just never turned up. The play off defeat to Leicester was a similar experience. Nothing left in the tank.

The two FA Cup Semi-finals - winning the League Cup didn't seem to equal losing against the Arse twice and I still feel bad about it 40 years later. Even worse, it wasn't long after England V West Germany in the World Cup 1970 - Peter 'The Cat' Bonetti in for a nobbled Gordon Banks, what an f*cking useless piece of crap. He and Arsenal basically ruined my entire life
