Some great shouts, seeing the list of names makes me misty eyed ;D Someone mentioned steve bould earlier, i used to really rate that guy. At one of the friendlies we used to play at stafford rangers i got him and georgie berry's autograph. I saw a kid at newcastle town getting tuncay's and i saw that same look in his eye

It's got to be Stan.
I was there on the day he came back v Huddersfield Town. Stan played against the then current England left back, Ray Wilson, and Stan took him apart.
I was used to gates of 8 to 10,000, then suddenly we had 35000 in the Vic for his first game, unbelievable atmosphere.

Peter Thorne, mostly because I met him at the meet the players event and it was the only name I could remember in a time where most of the players had more letters in the name than a welsh village ;D.

Peter Thorne. I still remember being told that he's been sold to Cardiff when I was a kid, I cried my bloody eyes out.

What a great quote! I'm using that My first was Big John Ritchie, soon to be overtaken by Jimmy GREENHOFF!! What a shot that man possessed. He struck a ball sweeter than any footballer I have ever seen. Time goes on and I have also loved Steino, Thorney, Big Ears (Sheron and Delap), Ric and many more.

I started going to the Vic when I was five (from 1991 onwards) so my hero SHOULD have been Steino, but instead I absolutely loved Johnny Butler. When I was club mascot I met him in the players lounge having a swift one before the game and he was an absolute legend.
My next hero after that was Toddy and I was absolutely gutted when he left for Oldham.
Then it was Sergei Shtaniuk.
Nowadays it's just got to be Ric. The bloke is like a combination of Steino and Hoekstra, easily the most exciting player that I have seen at Stoke.

1950s Harry Burrows was not in the same class as Ozzy Oscroft. I never forget his Van-Basten type volley from the left wing area to score against Notts County in the 6 -0 win I witnessed. 1960s Has to be Sir Stan for what he did for the club on is return. 1970s Eastham for his toe-poke winning goal in the League Cup final. 1980s Pass (or Eric Skeels if was he still playing then?) 1990s The Goalden one Mark Stein 2000s Did anyone stand out as a truly great...........? I find this one difficult.
