After watching some of the early 80's footage and seeing that side again it got me thinking back to the days when i idolised these players as a kid. Chamberlain and georgie berry. Can't split them. The players seemed to receive more adulation from the crowd individually in times gone by. Songs for every player before and during the game. Anyway who were your first stoke hero's?

Bertie Biggins was mine. I remember him scoring two in a 4-0 league cup battering of Preston in one of the first games I ever went to, and he chipped the keeper from about 25 yards. He fucked off for Barnsley about two months later and I was devastated.

Chambo was my first. Beagrie and Fuller since then. There's plenty of other players i've liked but none come close to those three for getting you off your seat.

The Golden One for me. I had Stein 9, on the back of that great purple, ziggy zaggy away kit. Wish I still had it.

Gleghorn and Steino were both my favourites when i was young, wouldn't like to select just one from the two, as i have great memories of both of them playing for us.
