We need to create chances, Walters is not goof enough to play as winger at this level when he gets it he either gives it away or passes it back. Huth takes too long to bring the ball under control. Is Kenwyne bothered about winning?

The only positive note I have is that it feels similar to the Newcastle game. At the moment we look very slow, cant pass, cant defend and are offering no threat. Ric and Pennant have to come on no later than 60 mins. Gyan looks like a real actor should fit in nicely to the Premier League. The one positive for me..a fantastic penalty save. We look a side destined for trouble. |

Fuller on for Tuncay I just think Fuller will be more affected against Sunderland

Just shows how much possesion and pressure Rory creates with his throws, not to mention bona fida chances. He is no worse than Wilson or Walters IMHO. Get him on Tone preferably for Wils or Deano and get Jermaine on too!!

As bad as the first half against Newcastle. Sunderland don't look as soft at the back as newcastle did though and have also created more genuine chances.
Here's hoping for a point, but at the moment I can't really see us keeping a second half clean sheet.

I'm about as positive as you can get but we're up against a confidence-shot side who got battered 5-1 against their local rivals last week, and we're treating them like Real Madrid. Absolute disgrace of a first half performance, so many things which are wrong atm. We're even making Etherington look league one standard here and you may as well have pulled out a Stokie from the crowd for free rather than have that 15k a week Walters kicking anything that moves on the right hand side. Fuller and Pennant must be really pissed off at the moment seeing the quality of performance Walters and Jones have been putting in recently. Jones hasn't looked 800k never mind 8 million since his fantastic display against Newcastle when he won us the game on his own. Head says 2-0 Sunderland, heart says 1-1 due to a piece of Fuller magic. Come on Stoke  |

Walters is a good bloke to have on the bench who can cover for a wide midfield player or forward when you are trying to run down the clock. Other than that he offers as much as a Pound Stretchers stall in Harrods. Fuck all.

Compared to what we're used to, our defense has been a shambles this season, we get drawn to the ball like a moth to a light.
We've normally looked pretty impressive on the break but this is like watching some fat fuckers run round at weight watchers, no interest, no desire, no spark (bar Tunny)
Very fucking worrying.

I'm no fan of the wrist slasher brigade, but to be fair there was little in that first half to be remotely positive about. I agree we're still in the game, but we need a massive improvement in the second half if we're going to get anything out of this. |

Absolutely shocking from us, and not much better from Sunderland. If we come out and actually put some fucking effort in, there's no reason why we shouldn't be beating these.....but I'm sure Bruce will be telling his lot the same thing. Agree totally, Sunderland don't look a good side by any stretch but we've been absolutely dire. Jones is so isolated up front, Tuncay doesn't link up despite his good play around the box at times and it's been almost walking pace. The usual suspects have a new villain in Walters, he's probably seen more of the ball than any Stoke player but had no options to be fair to him at times. Not a good permance but to single him out is unfair. Etherington hasn't had a kick. Can see Fuller replacing Tuncay and Pennant has to come on for me to change the shape. The game doesn't suit Tuncay, he's getting no change and we need to get balls in the box. Delap must come on I feel if only for his throws. Worst performance since first half at Wolves but we're still in it |

Some of Tuncay's lay-offs have been great, but we're not getting him into the game enough. The ball is just being launched towards Jones, who isn't winning anything in the air, and when we try and play on the floor we're just too crap at it to get anywhere. The solution for me is get the useless Walters off the pitch, move Tuncay to the wing and get Ric on up-front. I think Jones would actually win more in the air if he's a bit deeper, and Fuller would be far better at holding the ball up. Wilson has looked very pedestrian as well-perhaps Delap on for him. The inclusion of Faye against the pace of Wellbeck and Gyan is another mistake, but we'll be running out of subs at this rate...  |
