Are there any players who you know have played for us during your Stoke-supporting lifetime, but you just can't summon any memories of?
I've been going to Stoke since about 1986 - I can remember players like (for example) Mickey Gynn, Peter Beagrie, Peter Fox, Justin Whittle, Vinnie Overson and Toddy.
But I have absolutely no memory at all of Keith Scott. I can't remember him signing, leaving, being crap, ever seeing him play or even what he looked like. He was replaced by Sheron, and I can remember almost every minute of him being on the pitch...
It can't just be because he was crap - I remember plenty other crap players from that era! Anyone else suffer this kind of player amnesia?

I have little memory of Justin Whittle as I used to close my eyes every time the ball went near him.
How could anyone forget Scott? Lethal Keith! That miss v Notts County from 2 yds out .....open goal and he put it over. Seemed technically impossible but not for him. He then hobbled off pretending to be injured behind the goal.

I was recently reading through the stats pages in "Delilah Roars Again" and I saw the name Ian Brightwell during his short loan spell in 2002 and I had absoluetly no recollection of it whatsoever. Even though it was relatively recent it had completely escaped my memory that he had played for us.

Richard Johnson is a pretty obscure one. He played a few games and I remember him doing ok, but I couldn't pick him out of a line up if you put a gun to my head now.

But yeah there's a few players like Brightwell and Johnson who came in for a handful of games, did a job and then disappeared again. I suppose they're the more obvious choices for this thread. For example, the day that I was club mascot (in my avatar) we had a striker on loan from the Dingles called Tim Steele and I have no idea who he is. The rest of the squad from that day are absolute legends to me (Crannie, Johnny Butler, Beeston and Steino in particular) and I cherish my photographs with them all but Tim Steele means nothing to me!

For the older supporters on here. Do any of you remember Pete Phillips. He played for us and Man city that I know of but I think he gave up early through injury. I have looked trough a few sites but can find no mention of him. The reason I ask is because I work with him. I don't disbelieve what he says but would just like to find some details of him. Cheers.

Wasn't there some sort of work permit issue with Gargo? That's the story I was told anyway.
Davide Xausa- what a player.

When you look back at the era under Kamara/Bates/Durban there were some players whop played who I have absolutely no re-collection of.
I can remember O'Neill Donaldson though...

Sigurstein Gislason
Einar Thor Danielsson - although i do remember his winner away at wycombe
i know its recent, but Amdy Faye is one...i know he never really let us down, apart from that red car away at boro but if someone was to ask me what sort of player Faye was i really couldnt describe him!
Paul holsgrove - i remember him being in the side, but i cant honestly picture him playing for us or have any memory of him during a game.
Steve Melton
Brian Rice i remember simply because my dad has a video of us beating Brentford 4-0 away. if it wasnt for that video he would be a complete mystery.
I remember Jim Smet playing in a friendly against Derby, Ravanelli was up front.

Wasn't there some sort of work permit issue with Gargo? That's the story I was told anyway. Davide Xausa- what a player. Yep..........Gargo played v Chester . He couldn't get a permit but didn't need one for Belgium or somewhere. Nyamah was utter shite. We didn't win a game with him in the team but am pretty sure Spurs had the same problem earlier this season with Bale and he was awesome later. Not saying the same re Nyamah...........Douglas Bader would have been a better full back
