He was crap. Didn't track back once. ;D Annan looked good as did Odil. Another vote for Vorsah. I was surprised how well Kevin Prince Boateng looked. Some bloke called Heskey had a pretty good game too.

Yup, another shout out for Vorsah and KP Boateng for Ghana and Belhadj for Algeria, all attainable. As for right side, Tagoe for Ghana seemed decent. Annan looked solid as a holding midfielder too. Odemwingie looked good on the left in spells when he came on for Nigeria. The RSA wide men were okay too and Dos Santos was dangerous, but too lightweight for the English game it seems.
Serbia were poor, none more so than the much vaunted Zigic. Thankfully for England so too were Algeria and Slovenia - we want shooting if we can't manage to beat them two!
The Germans were very very good, but all out of our reach!

Forlan looked very dangerous but Luis Suarez along side him was very disappointing after the hype that he came with into the tournament.
Enyeama had a very good game but I suspect that it was just his day. If you saw him at the African Nations Cup you would avoid him at all costs!
Park Chu-Young looked really impressive and put himself about well. He seemed very sharp and good in the air but I doubt he will come cheap as he is already at AS Monaco. Definitely looks destined for bigger things though.
Jozy Altidore looked very dangerous at times and justified why I singled him out at the start of the summer as a possible "Future Fuller" for us. With his pace and power he would develop nicely within a system like ours.
Ghana as a whole looked slick and one to watch. Isaac Vorsah just seems too perfect for TP to be true! Would love to see him pull on a Stoke shirt but I can imagine he'll go on to bigger things. Anthony Annan and Asamoah Gyan looked really promising, as did Prince Tagoe, but the biggest shock for me was seeing how comfortable Kevin-Prince Boateng looked on such a big stage. He's exactly the sort of dynamic, ball-playing centre-midfielder that we are crying out for. Not sure about him referring to himself simply as "Prince" though!
Zigic - talk about a bullet dodged! He came across as lazy, clumsy, tactically inept. Doesn't look like he'll suit the pace of the Premier League at all.
Germany - pretty much the whole team impressed, although it was against an Australia team containing Craig Moore and Richard Garcia so that needs to be considered. There seems to be a buzz around German football at the minute and the national team is full of young, technically gifted and exciting players so the future does look good for them. Scary to think that the more senior members of their excellent midfield, Schweinsteiger and Podolski, are still both only 25 as well!
Also looking forward to seeing Christian Eriksen today for Denmark who looks like a really exciting prospect.

Ano shout for the whole of the Krout team (unfortunately). ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/4tzqvp1fxEemag_TAXLJ.gif)
And Lahm & Oezil in partic.
Bradley did some good work for the yanks - but was allowed acres of space by our 'dream team' pairing of L&G in the middle.
Yes, Altidore looked good ripping Carragher a new arris hole of course but i reckon my 11 yr old could beat him for pace so don't read too much into that.
On the looked bad front however, if Guttierez (sp) is a right back, i'm a Dutchman.
Good ol Maradonna eh? Mad as a bucket of frogs.

Elia looked good when he came on today. Doubt we'd get anywhere close to him though.
Tagoe, Vorsah and Annan all looked good.
Modise looked good.

Absolutely agree with the Elia comments above! He was skillful, pacey and had the cross to match! Another player that impressed me was the Japanese player Honda. Not sure if he's definitely japanese though, seems like he might be a hybrid ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

Apart from the established names and those you've seen regularly, I always think it's hard to judge players on the first showing, especially as things haven't really got going yet. You also have to take into account the opposition. Germany, for example, really did look excellent against the Aussies. But how poor was the opposition? They looked terrible to me and Craig Moore (most of the rest of them too)was past his sell by date at the last World Cup, never mind this one, so I'll hold fire on that one until they've played someone decent.
Having said that, I've seen quite a bit of Assamoah Gyan for Ghana, both in the last Cup of Nations and a few Ligue 1 games on Setanta and he's always impressed me. Though he had one of his quieter games* yesterday, He still hit the post twice and stuck his penalty away and as i've said on here a couple of times, I wouldn't mind us spending a few quid on him. He's playing for Stade Rennes too, so I doubt he'd be too expensive or unattainable.
*He was up against Vidic and Lukovic too. I thought they both looked impressive CB's until Lukovic got himself sent off for that silly pull on the shirt.

"If your looking for holding midfielder during world cup Anthony Annan is meant to be a pretty good young prospect (23), reminded me of muntari when i saw him in the way he plays and build! plays for Rosenborg as well so wouldn't cost much i wouldn't imagine"
I think my assesment a bit ago (on some random thread) is looking good even if only one game's been played
