We've got the money now.
Who knows how long we'll have it and be in this position of relative strength?
I think this is our close season to make an impression if we possibly can.
And going down the desperately short-term Heskey route has got to be the last option IMO.
He'd get at least a 2-yr contract taking him well into his 35th year. He'll be waddling by then and making Beattie look like Fuller
There won't be a clamour for Emile, so if we exhaust every other option, I'm sure he'll still be on the peg come mid-August.

Our best run since 1975 coincided with his return. I share the same birthday as Rod Stewart but that doesn't mean I can fuckin sing. Jesus wept. But if you suddenly appeared on the stage next to him and his music improved to rival his heyday, then you might think it was more than a coincidence.

So what we're all saying is to solve our problem of having one of the lowest goals scored tallies is to sign Heskey correct? So to add to what Fullers 3 and Mammas 3 at a guess we need another striker to score 3 a season. With that logic we could have 3/4 forwards banging in a combined amount of 10 to 12 goals next season. Fuck me my pulse is racing! Go get him tone... Not to forget we need to up our average age I mean the following are too young Sorro Faye Higgy Delap Beattie Fuller Mamma Heskey isn't played for his goals though. England were the top goalscorers in all of qualifying with him in the side - he's played for the space he creates by dragging defenders out of position - space for England that allowed Rooney, Gerrard, Walcott etc to flourish and arguably would Fuller, Ethers, Tuncay etc in ours

With the money that's involved in the Premiership 2 mills just a drop in the ocean and worth a risk as he can play wide too. I agree that at 35 he will be too old. Maybe a years contract with an option for a second year might be worth a punt. I'm not a massive fan but he's a whole lot better than some think and certainly an improvement on Mama.

That waste of space that got us promoted in the first place? And the same waste of space that kept us in the league last year? Get a grip. Mama got us promoted????? I must've imagined Liams contribution. Come to think of it, I must've missed the contribution of Simmo, Ryan, Cressie, Dicko, and also Danny Pugh. And Rics goals never happened either. Mama helped get us promoted, yes! But he is not good enough to take us forward in the premier league. I'm sorry if that breaks your heart, but move on, there are plenty more fish and all that...

Can we just clarify that if Heskey signs it doesn't necessarily mean we wouldn't sign any other strikers.
If we signed just 1 striker and it was Heskey then yes I would be dissapointed. But if getting him at a low cost meant that we could spend big on another striker then he has to be seen as a great signing as he would add plenty to the squad.

Our main problem is obviously goals, not because of the striker's inability to score, but because of our failure to create realistic goal scoring opportunities.
I can't think of one incisive ball played through for Fuller to run on to, throughout the entire season!

Just what Stoke City need - another non goalscoring centre forward.
Cue some weapon telling me he's not a forward. Man afuckinglive.
If we are going to persist with the hoof lets get a bloke in who has some idea where the net is ffs.

Not bad at that price.
Still rather see us put a decent sized bid in for Cameron Jerome

Mama creates space for Fuller better than any of our other strikers (sadly, because he isn't good enough) - Heskey is just an upgrade on that. It might not be pretty, but it's effective.

But one is Frank Lampard. I just think he doesn't suit us. He falls over a lot and isn't great in the air. He'll frustrate the fuck out of me if he's forever on his arse like he usually is.

Lampard is far more disciplined and sits back more for England than for Chelsea though. I don't entirely disagree with you - I think we can do better than Heskey. The whole "he's a striker doesn't score goals he must be crap end of LOLZ" stuff just gets on my tits because it's just an overly basic interpretation that doesn't even scratch the surface of the player's strengths and weaknesses within a certain system.

But he still has the footballing ability along with Barry to pass it to some buggers feet. Our lot don't.
I don't think he'd fit our system because he is better at holding the ball up when it's played to his feet. We can't adapt.

Heskey would be the 'safe option'
Safe as in £2m for a proven target man, instead of £10m+ for a Carlton Cole or Kenwyne Jones

check there goalscoring records, they are similar
heskey is just more experienced and at 1/5 of the price of cole or jones. which is why he would be the safe bect
