That was such a great bonus surprise! tbh I went into tonight expecting not a lot - and we're still not exactly playing the beautiful game but lose more than half the starting XI (against higher league opposition with a £35M player on the pitch) and our bloody-minded strength's still there. Fantastic to see Brown on the score sheet, many more to come hopefully.

7 I think MON was experimenting a bit to see if he can make us hard to beat away from home. JOB DONE on that front most definitely it seems like. We know MON can play attacking football when he wants to - we scored loads last season under him. Its good when a manager can nullify the opposition with his tactics. Next week we need to see him open up more and be more attacking at home. 'nullify', I love that word if we're hearing that every week, we're in business again, finally

100,000 plus deaths? I'm not sure there's enough they can bump off in care homes to get that figure. But maybe from lockdowns, mass unemployment, suicide, bankrupt businesses and debt. Labelled 'covid19' on the death certificates. Well we are 50k now and doubling that over the next 6 months with a herd strategy is no huge change in rate of damage v there in April and May not if you extrapolate from the deaths and hospitalisations stats since lockdown was eased. that's allowing for a two to six week lead time for someone to fail to make a normal recovery. I do get why the govt (and other govts) can't come out and say for sure the virus has mutated into something more infections but less life-threatening but the numbers really do seem to be pointing one way, touching wood

Plus side, this fixture was in danger of turning into a bit of a hoodoo and we didn't lose. Our ring rust could have been worse. Our defensive routines were solid and we stopped them scoring. So, good opening point on paper. Minus side, we still don't seem to have much idea where the goal is and tbh, were fairly crap much of the time in a crap game.
Extra point for strength of character tho, we didn't look like losing and there have been enough times in the recent past when we've all seen gutless Stoke sides give it away. Not going back there.

Think that was BondyGodfather, he was on some pretty strong (prescribed) painkilling medication if I remember right and he could get carried away with the smilies and stuff. The man had an absolute heart of gold tho, sent me various Stoke related stuff even tho we never met, always really helpful and friendly. Sadly passed away a few years back. Good lad He was Lovely man, do anything for anyone, I was proud to call Bondy a friend. He'd usually message and apologise when he'd really gone off on one. He had so much to deal with in his life. RIP xxx

You're way off on number three in fact it's probably the biggest insult you can make As for number one I believe it's the poster formerly known as Paulinespens although I could be wrong. If it is he's a decent lad out there in the real world. As for number two he hasn't registered with me which probably means he's either not ************** or on the milder side of the spectrum That's funny! Poor old fraise is prone to the regular flounce off, but he won't enjoy that comparison at all! fraise is a god, he designed my avi! xx and it's an almost perfect resemblance

Got to be another massive 10. We weren't safe this morning and went into this game massive underdogs against a team that scores for fun and is THE from team in the league. Now we're safe and we never looked like losing this game. Gouranga. Sorry Albs... xx

Mid-table mediocrity, what's the problem eh? Brentford are GOOD, today we were better - just looking forward now to what Mick can do with more of his own players and fewer of Gaz/Nate's but for today, I'm just not in a mood to pick faults, besides I'd struggle tbh so... 10 from me add * if you sneaked in

And breathe one more time... we played really well first half, were sound as necessary in the second - overall we felt in command, once again Mick's turned us around after a tonking which gets bonus points, no daft formations - a good solid day at the office 8 from me add * if you managed to sneak in is he back in the good books Sal love never wavers just being human Mick and I have the odd domestic x

Sorry this is so late, just didn't have the heart tbh First half I thought, really strong and maybe there was going to be a goal in this for us if we were lucky - so, good management. Then we simply got overrun. Are Leeds away really 5 goals better than us? I'm tempted to say, yes they probably are right now. If we'd got everything right maybe we'd have lost 3 not 5 - what concerns me most is yet again, Mick's got to reboot the lads from game to game and that starts to get proper scary one place above the trapdoor. Despite the tonking then - I want to type 6 but can't do it, so 5 from me add * if by any chance etc

We're fucked. We deserve to be fucked. What the fuck's happened to us? Ok there are many legacy issues with the squad and it was right imo to switch things around after Boro, but since lockdown Mick appears to have lost all traction with the players. Everyone else has got this so much righter than us: why?? If he can turn this round now he can probably walk across Westport Lake too. Otherwise we are deep, deep in it. At the business end of the season and we're worse than under Jones. 1 from me add * if you somehow managed to get in there I think we need to apply some logic Sal. If, say, Ward had improved his fitness immensely over lockdown, O'Niell would have been wise to pick him. I think the mess we see us a result of lockdown and the Allen injury. Our players took it as a holiday and came back with terrible attitudes and even worse fitness. He seems to have selected line ups and formations based on this, and tonight's comments reinforce that. The defensive outlook mirrors the lack of faith and attitude he's seen in the stats and in training etc. He's even started those points tonight too. I don't think this is on O'Niell, I genuinely think he's completely disgusted with it all, just like the previous 2 managers were. This fuck bunch are wasters who wanted an extended free holiday. Have you seen the No Bonuses thread? If true that might just have answered both our questions and wherever Mark Cartwright is at this moment I want to throw him in the bloody river

Colin made us look like a team of donkeys (apart from Ince) and apart from a few minutes after the break Mick really didn't have much to offer in return. Ok getting bombproof defensive routines back is the hardest thing to do after a long break but we're in major trouble if we don't. Weak management today. Everything Colin got right about grabbing the initiative and keeping it, we got wrong. And all that was bad last week came back whereas all that was good at Reading, was gone. A generous 4 from me add * if by chance you sneaked in please not much love for Mick this week ,SAL Haha, 4 was the loving score for today I do love the guy, he's been amazing for us - feel like today and the less great bits of last week have really told us the extent to which this squad's needed his hand up their backs, let them relax and you get this

What a way to start back! Perfection's for another day but for strength and persistence and all the qualities we need to stay up, bring it on - we'll only get better from here. 9 from me and.... in the incredibly unlikely event you somehow were there, add plenty of ********* 9 are you his agent or wife 😎 Haha, in my dreams 9 was generous in hindsight but what I love about Mick isn't his tactical genius, it's the way he's made us resolute enough to nick points and hold on for dodgy wins, as well as the times we get to go wild, that's what I was getting overexcited about

is it me or have we got a worse culture of animal sadism in SoT than other places, or does it just get reported more? This is the sort of post that makes me despair Sal. It's always existed, it exists everywhere in the length and breadth of the country, I can't quite work out whether this story is from Stoke. The burning question needing to be asked is why do people from SOT continually feel the need to run the area and it's inhabitants down? I love so many things about N Staffs, that's why I live here - but there's a streak of violence I'll never be easy with. Check my posts, it's one of the only things I run us down for and I really do find it disturbing.
