9th would be a disappointment given the backing the manager has had.

We'll finish higher than both of those teams. If we sign 1. A strong, mobile goalscorer to lead the line. 2. A dominant, aggressive leader at CB. Otherwise we will be repeatedly bullied by team after team. If we have better footballers well coached we will beat these teams. You're basically saying that we need a bunch of kickers to do anything in this league.

I think the days of Tony Adams, John Terry, Steven Gerrard style captains are behind us. Wouldn't worry about that too much. Did you see us get bullied at Ipswich? You can watch a repeat tomorrow At Millwall. We'll finish higher than both of those teams.

On paper all these signings look good and the start is encouraging. If we can get that Korean lad in, who looks mustard, and the Turkish lad it will be a great window. Neil must deliver a promotion challenge though.

He's done amazing to get so many players in, along with the Manager.... but time will tell if they are any good.
What is refreshing is the approach. Seem now to be fishing in a far far bigger pond.

TP’s football was always years ahead of its time. I believe some teams still try to play that prehistoric tip tap garbage. They do. You can find them easily by looking at the top of the tables around Europe.

If only we’d gone about recruitment like this straight after relegation, the club would be in a very different place. But going to be an exciting season - and it’s becoming a lot clearer now why Neil left Sunderland to come to us and build something fresh. Our recruitment straight after relegation turned out disastrous. We've signed a number of players and it's far to early to say this summer is any better. It's about results - early signs are encouraging, but I think we still need a couple more players

You can count the number of managers who have never had a bad spell during their career on one hand.
Potter is n excellent manager/coach and will be successful in the future. He would have been at Chelsea but they sack managers at the first sign of trouble. Fair play, it's worked for them.

Great goal by Jimmy but what was Peter Shilton doing for their second?

Rotherham were shit though. It was more the manner of defeat on Saturday. Non existent midfield, defensive errors, players not taking instruction, players making poor decision, oppo looking fitter (although I doubt they are) Wake up call for the manager - he looked and sounded shocked. They’re the kind of shit team we’d have lost to at home last season. Yep, that's true enough.

I think the more important question has why the technology and detailed analysis has become more important than the pundits. It is total overload and over the top and frankly boring. Because thats what a younger audience like? They're never off phones or tablet. Tend to agree though, they need to strike a balance.

Absolutely ridiculous. Should 19.30 at the absolute earliest. The thing that really annoys me is 5 mins before kick off when there’s about an hour of adverts then the anchor says something like “Manchester United take on Wolves, coming next” and that’s it for another half hour of Raheem Sterling having a shave in a dark bathroom in a block of high rise flats. Just put it on at 7.30 then. Boom.

What is your original point? You asked a question Thst there was no need for change in my opinion but you already knew that No I didn't. They've added an extra pundit, big deal. No doubt they will change it around throughout the season. Can't wait for Keano to come on in a few weeks to tell us about dressing rooms and character. Respect to her, must be intimidating to join Jones, Nev and Carra on such an established show.

Where did I say they don't count? The conclusion from the league games surely is Rotherham are a poor team. Ipswich are currently better than us (AN said so). Consequently, if we have a (sizable) kitty we need to strengthen rather than add more of the same. Hopefully JD and co will succeed where the pervious 'throw the cheque book at the manager' model failed. imo as I said before we've got all the flair we need, we now need to add the steel. Could the conclusion not be that Rotherham aren’t brilliant but we’re actually quite good, though a work in progress? I’m not saying we don’t need to strengthen, I’m just not having that if we win the opposition must be shit but if we lose then we must be shit. Rotherham were shit though. It was more the manner of defeat on Saturday. Non existent midfield, defensive errors, players not taking instruction, players making poor decision, oppo looking fitter (although I doubt they are) Wake up call for the manager - he looked and sounded shocked.

I think the powers that be ,at Stoke would settle for improvement, but obviously the fans want the play offs . I agree with AN , in his opinion, that what was wrong with Stoke city, when he came in, was everything and he needs to change everything. He has no option ,other than to be bold . The best of luck to him. But although we are going to lose again, we can't lose in the manner we did at Ipswich. We have to show fight and be resilient. I think the captain/ vice captain should be Wilmott/ Pearson. How he came up with Laurent I have no idea. But we have to be hard working and tenacious, win , lose or draw . AN has got to insist on no more Ipswich type , half arsed performances . Rather arrogant to say everything was wrong. He's creating a rod for his own back there. Wilmott should be on the bench, not in the bloody side as captain. He's as poor as Laurent. We need 4 players - full back, centre half, midfielder (2 even) and a centre forward.

Gayle, I would probably agree , even though lots of clubs wanted him and AN keeps playing him. The others altogether cost buttons. How much do you think we paid over 5 months for the few games that Axel played for us last year? I don't think we should sign him, I'm just pointing out we waste money year on year. We always have.

Post by Pugsley on Aug 13, 2023 18:24:27 GMT
What amount of money have we wasted in the last 3 years? Tuanzebe was reported to be on 63k a week at Man.Utd. Why should we gamble when we don't have to do so. We should be spending the money we have on permanent first team players who will be the foundations that we will build onto next year. I think only a fool would think that Tuanzebe would fit those criteria. We already have enough players that we will have to replace next year. Sima Moore Kilkenny Celina Delap Flint Norrington-Davis To name a few. Tuanzebe ‘Could’ play almost every week, Vidigal might do his ACL and not play till March. There’s risk in all signings. Ok he’s had injury issues but this would be reflected in his salary, something that he’s clearly coming to grips with (no offers as yet) as other clubs will be offering less than he’s used to. Gayle We've pissed money away for 2 decades

It’s an almost completely new team. It will not just work perfectly straight from the off. A success this season will be top half. Next season is when we will win the league! A top half finish is not success unless it's in the top six and resulting in promotion. Anything else, other than relegation, would be underwhelming. Next season half of these players won't be with us.
