I was just wondering how good we all are. or have been at football. There are a lot of posters on this forum that are not shy at giving their opinions on tactics and players performances. How good were or are we?I used to play for Alsager Town and Kidsgrove Athletic there must be people on this forum that have played higher and lower.Lets own up then (and be honest)

I was brilliant. Problem is most of my team-mates just weren't ever on my wavelength. A bit like Whelan really.

mcf74 used to be on Stoke's books at youth level. That is why he is always right - well, more right than some. ;D

Too old to play now and have a bit of a dodgy knee from playing the game. Ruptured ACL while making my debut for my last team in a pre-season tournament in 1997. Play a bit of 5 a side now and again.
The game has changed a lot!!

Does being better at football make you better at giving opinions on tactics and players performances? exactly, i didn't play much football at primary school, then went to a high school that only played rugby, cricket and Hockey, I probably played more of all those 3 upto the age of 16 than I did football, but I know a darn sight more about football tactics, and players performances than I do about the tactics and performances in any of those 3 sports I've just mentioned.

pottersrule - what point were you making by listing Shankly, Paisley and Bobby Robson? I'm confused too - Shankly and Robson were internationals, Paisley was an ok player when Liverpool weren't at their best, how do they fit together exactly?

My main problem at football is my brain sees amazing passes and wonderous volleys but the message gets intercepted by some bugger in between my brain and my feet! ;D
