Who actually gives a shit? Not me.
What I'm really care about is how SCFC has moved on. Who would have thought a few years back when the likes of Cotterill and almost Burley were around that we would now have the likes of Peter Reid as No 2.
Great Times.

I care about the 2010 World Cup but couldn't care less about Owen and haven't done for years, he's lost the best assett he had and that was his pace. It ain't coming back

That didn't read correctly, I do give a shit about the world cup. Just fed up of the media's obsession with Owen and England. Club football is for the true footy fan

I still think Owen has a slim chance of making the 2010 squad dependant on his fitness and form over the next 9 months or so, I still believe a fully fit Michael Owen will score you goals at PL level, and I still believe a fully fit Michael Owen would provide decent competition for the strikers to play alongside Rooney for England. It'll certainly be his last tournament for England if he does though.

If he has a good season at the Shit and scored 10-15 goals he will go. Yes, he has lost his pace, but he instinctively knows which positions to take up in the box and is a cool finisher. If we are 1-0 down with ten minutes to go, who else would you send on to try to poach a goal for us? Worth taking, as long as it is as a 5th striker in addition to the four getting picked now (Rooney, Heskey, Defoe and Crouch). They all offer something different.

I' ll say one thing. If it came to taking penaltes, Owen would be one player who you wouldnt immediately think 'Oh NO!!!!' if he walked-up to take one. How much is that worth??

On current form he doesn't deserve a place in the squad.
I'd pick
Rooney Defoe Crouch C Cole

IMHO we need more than four. Remember Italy who are known for defensive caution took six in 2006 and against Germany alone used five of them. Instead of packing the squad with seventeen holding midfielders take an extra striker. Or two. Walcott can play right midfield and up front so he fattens the squad up.

Good point Joe. If 5 then I'd take Heskey/Kevin Davies/some other battering ram, and as you say - if Walcott goes then we've effectively got 6 strikers.

Fabcap is trying to get as much flair as possible into the team. We should play the basic 442 but when we get the ball moving forward it becomes 433. If Lampy or Gerrard play their roles properly one of them will be the first attacker.

Beattie would put a shift in if required, chance yet if he can find the net regularly.

He's never missed one for England has he? Not sure but i'm not one to discount his club record which for Liverpool was pathetic. Personally though as far as penalties are concerned Lampard is the only one i'm ever confident with, since Shearer retired, who was always brilliant at them. If we want someone for that very reason though i suggest we buy Le Tissier some new boots and sit him in the corner until needed ;D
