I want us to consolidate and IMPROVE on and off the field. I believe that, in time, we can aspire to the top ten Prem with the right signings and system. Sorry Mama, thanks for your contribution, but IMHO that will have to be without him if we wish to achieve this.

When he got injured, and Beattie and Etherington came in, our system necessarily changed and to my eyes, we carved out better results and performances which played a large part in keeping us up IMHO.

Fuller yes the rest no. Yes Beattie had a purple patch but looked very average after i thought. Maybe it me but a striker needs pace. At Forest last night, thought Kitson had a very good game, he looked more interested, fitter and his all round game was good ,he was strong in the air ,sharp and clever on the ball, he was linking play well and scored a good goal, he will get better with games, goals and the support of the fans, i have never doubted there was a very good player in there , hopefully we will now see the real Kitson. Thought Beattie did fine also, but Kitson looked better in my opinion. Fuller looked class when he came on, got me thinking how much we have come on as a club, with the addition of Ashton, the return of Mamma as backup instead of Cresswell we have the choice of four excellent strikers, i think we have a strike force to match most and i look forward to the new season.

Beattie and Fuller are good enough for us if they could both play 100% of the time with both Lawrence and Etherington. It's not a perfect world, but four decent forwards (Ashton and A.N. Other (quick)) would be brilliant.
Kitson and Mama are adequate back-up, but to push on, you'd think that Tony will bring one or two in.
But it is just you - I rate our strikers and thought that Beattie was excellent for us.

Fuller as we know turns a game on it's head. A bit of an attitude but our budget could not replace him.
Beattie did well for several games then didn't produce an awful lot more after that and i genuinely feel he wont be such the asset as last year. Time will tell but i certainly wouldn't say he's shit.
Kitson we know there is talent we just now need to see it so the jury is out, seems promosing so far.
Mama works hard, wins headers but is technically very poor, our football goes down the pan when he plays it becomes long thump up front and hope Mama flicks it anywhere. We were a better side without, he still has an important role as an impact sub when we're chasing the game as we can launch it all up to him and hope for any loose bits.
Obviously this is my opinion from last season. I also agree there is no room for favouritism and loyalty to those who got us here. To progress players need to be dropped or to go elsewhere, club always comes first. We still have a few Championship players in our starting 11.

tell you what lads as you're all on about evolving so needing better players in etc. why don't you email Coates and TP and ask why the hell he hasn't even bid for Messi yet and why we lost out to Ibrahimovic and Kaka????
Get a grip, yes we'll evolve but anyone who knows the slightest tiniest bit about football knows that that doesn't happen overnight!! It takes years to change the personnel and the way you play to fit those personnel in. We may get a few players in to strengthen the squad but most will be unchanged and the way we play won't be drastically different for a few years or so. You have to build a prestige and become an established, Pem side before you can start heaving out the lower quality players and replace them with the cream!!
Reality check is needed for some on here methinks!!
Mama can't really be commented on as being useless and not Prem quality bearing in mind he was VERY useful when he played last year and was out for a large chunk through injury. Bizarre how Mama can't cut it apparently and you want to replace him with Ashton who hasn't played for a year through injury!!!????!!!!!

Mama is ok only due to the fact that he is awkward to play against.Another fact is that he has a 50p head and 50p feet!

You have a good point though regarding the middle stint, top quality wont go to Stoke its too risky and they're in fear of damaging there reputation. Unfortunately though if you stand still in this game you're going backwards. We have Championship quality in our starting 11. What we have now won't replicate last year, the fans won't be as loud etc... etc... No denying that Mama is a hard worker but it was very obvious our football was a hell of a lot better when he was out. We can't afford to go through the season with a striker who may bag 4-5 goals if we're lucky. He will and should be an impact sub.

Fuller and Beattie are great strikers, KevKJ you have no idea what your on about.
Beattie was immense for us last season, the fact that when we brought him he just slotted straight in, IMO, was priceless, you rarely find a striker who fits the mould instantly and Beattie certainly did that. He played his part last season and I hope he finishes his career at Stoke.

I like Mama, but it is a luxury to have him in a premiership attack as he isn't a big enough goal threat. If we had Mama, Fuller and Beattie up front, I know which two I would like the chances to fall to. We need another speedy forward then we will have a decent strike force with Beattie, Fuller & Kitson. Get rid of Cresswell and use Mama as a last hope impact player.

I'm flabbergasted by some of the responses on this thread. Seemingly since the end of last season, some people have been queuing up to lay into some of our most impressive, successful players.
Beattie is a PROVEN Premiership striker, and GUARANTEES goals. Mama causes absolute havoc in even the best defenses in the world - you just can't defend against an athlete, and target-man, of his quality.

What a stupid post - they are all different and bring different options Fuller, Beattie and Mama all contributed to our success last year and will again this year Hopefully we can add Kitson to that list and on evidence so far pre season, it would appear so

Kev, i would slate you but tbh...i dont see the point. I rate our strikers, but if we rated them too highly, we wouldnt be excited at the prospect of Ashton signing.
Every footballer can improve, from Johnny Halls to Kaka.
But to say you dont rate them is a bit shit mate, you think you can do better, be my guest.
