I totally agree and you can feel the relief on this board that we have actually signed someone. Personally he's not a revelation of a signing, but then again I don't think he is utter shit either! Is he better than we already have? That depends who you are comparing him to , to be honest. For me he is a squad player and I will be a little disappointed if he TP affords him a permanent starting place, again that said if he does a good job then great.

Yeh I do, I think he will if he doesn't put him RB, whack him on the subs as an impact player, if he gets the signings he wants, we wont be needing the long throw.

Why is everyone moaning about the 5 Mill cost?? IF he does cost 5 Mill then that will undoubtedly mean we've survived another season in the Prem. Would that not be money well spent??

So thats Whitehead in the starting 11 - will it be for Whelan or Wilko though?
I suspect it depends on other new signings.

Im not overly excited by this signing and less excited by the fee being spent but i can see what Pulis is trying to do.
I think he will give him the captaincy and build a team around him, maybe compliment his leadership skills and 100% work ethic with a more flair player playing next to him?
I think he's there to do Delaps job of last year.

To be honest if we get a good quality creative midfielder to play alongside him he will create more assists than Rory would with the hands and feet.
The throw was far less effective second half of the season. I think he will and should be used as an impact player when the chips are down along with Mamma.
Cant see the sense in replacing Wilko who is younger and was getting better and better as the season went with Delap who was getting worse (due to tiredness me thinks)

Great signing another good pro for Stoke we have paid 3 million which seems about right, no doubt the extra 2 million will relate to achievement so if we pay it we will all be happy

I personally want us to sign a right.full back, that's one of the areas the worry is, don't fancy us sticking a centre half there all season, which Ryan is.

Why won't Wilko get many games next season when he was one of the most improved players from last year and had some great games?

I know I'm stating the obvious but, no matter how much we like players, some have to make way when better players come in. That, of course, still has to be proven and I think Rory does a great job for the team (quite apart from the throws). That said, if he IS left out of the starting 11 he will be on the bench and very much a part of TPs plans. This is why Pulis tends to sign a certain type of character who will give his all whenever he is asked to. Rory is very much still part of our plans whatever team is selected. It really is very much a squad game nowadays and they will all be important.

The reaction on the Sunderland board is exactly the same as after the Delap, Lawrence and Sorenson signings, they were only slightly more positive about Higginbotham.
Whitehead hardly sets the pulse racing and you do feel we could have done better - but its how he fits our system I suppose. His qualities appear to suit a Pulis side perfectly, but time will tell.

Why won't Wilko get many games next season when he was one of the most improved players from last year and had some great games? H Improved - definitely and more than anyone else Great games - no Solid games - some Awful games - some Good enough - for a player in his mid twenties, I think he is about to be given a nice soft cushion to make it more comfortable on the bench. Commitment to SCFC - 100% and a decent bloke (but that could be said of Cresser as well)

Wilkinson is pisspoor, the only reason he looked to have improved was that he started out as f*ckin terrible.
