I'm surprised we are prepared to pay so much - still it is Coates' money not mine!

In my opinion, a very good signing and I think Stokies will soon have a very different view of this lad. He's a 100% player who gives it his all, has captained a big club for several seasons, has proven Premier League experience and will definately improve our squad. I know that all the doubters will now want to get behind the lad. I think that he is going to be a very popular player.

Nice1 Finally! A deal that could potentially be worth £5m it says!Pleased we've got someone added to the squad the manager wanted. But this talk of £5m has depressed me a bit. When a figure of £2.5m was mentioned, in the context of Ashton and Dunne potentially coming at the same time, it seemed sound enough as another aaard-working midfield type. But talk of £5m does bring things into focus, when there's no talk of Ashton to distract us from the bold facts of this deal in isolation

4 year deal , we dont normally dish them out. I dunno, we gave Griff a four and a half year deal when he was already looking awful physically.

Stop worrying about the money if you aren't paying it!
Prices are just mental at the moment and Hull are about to pay 5 Million for Zamora (if they are lucky enough to get him to come and talk to them). Birmingham spent 5 Million+ on Roger Johnson and Wolves have signed Doyle for more than 4 Million. It's the state of the transfer market at the moment. How much did we actually expect to pay for an experienced Premier League midfielder who captains a big club and is still only 27? Fact of life folks!

I think the announcement of this proves Ashton won't be signing today. They would wait for both deals to be finalised and announce them together

Following on from "Dean Deal Done" and "Dean's Delight" will the next headline be "Ashton Arrives"?

Football saddens me when we hear people say £5 million for a very average player as a good bit of business.
It's the way it looks to be going unfortunately.
