Gerrard is not going down...just not going to happen. He'll get fine, suspended sentence, community service, whatever but will not be going down.
As for people claiming he wouldn't be welcome at their club cos of it...BOLLOCKS. He's one of the best midfielders in the world...he's worth a shirt at ANY club in the world whether he's a happy slapper or not...

Lock him up and make an example of him! Why? Men have fights all the time its what men do. if he was a normal person like yourself he would get a fine for drunk and disorder and gbh. for a first offense nothing further would be done, it took my younger brother about 15 times in court before he went to prison. I really don't think it would be fair at all to lock him up when people get less for worse. His defence is appauling "I was scared, i thought he was going to hit me, so i defended myself" OH AYE!!!!! Clearly the case that was! You have the right by self defence to lash out at somebody if you feel they are about to attack you. I'm in the army i have to learn self defence and rules of engagement and alsorts and know it well. Im not been funny like but Gerrard is a multi millionaire and a very famous character. i bet people purposely wind footballers and other celebrities up on purpose because when they get fed up of it and lash out it all gets publicized and the "victim" gets a huge pay out.

If he is found guilty and all the reports are correct IE throwing punches like a boxer would you want him at the club? Or more interestingly would he be in the same boat as Barton? I know it his first offense but is it his last? How many 2nd chances should HE get? This could be a tough one for those on tall horses. ;D I think the moral of this story is that if you want a good night out either better try a social club where everyone knows you or drink at home. The laws are so strict any dismeanour is a criminal offence. At least, Gerrard doesn't drive without a licence and insurance. Sorry Ric for the pop!

So you're comparing someone who thumps someone several times because he woudln't let them play his favourite songs in a nightclub to someone who mistakenly thought he could drive legally on his Jamaican licence in the UK. And what the hell is a dismeanour? FFS

lol I wondeed that! But assumed it was probably the latest geeky student type talk for high horse! Lol. It was just a sarky comment for the people who are indeed normally on their high horses. To see that vid he is just as bad as Barton. That is how the 2 can be compared. First he twats the bloke then he continues whilst his mates have a go as well. It doesn't matter how many times he has done it the fact is he has done it and is capable of doing it again. If as some people say Barton should never play football again then neither should Gerrard. He is a bigger role model than Barton will ever be. I accept that people like Gerrard think they are on their high horses. Again, I agree that sometimes they get in to trouble. But, if Gerrard and other celebs avoided these situations they would not be vulnerable.

Remember that story just after it happened, that the DJ was a Manure fan and kept playing "The wreck of the John B" and singing "Steven Gerrard, the baby's not yours"??!!
Ah well, it could easily be mistaken for "I thought he was going to hit me, so I hit him", I suppose.

I really doubt that there was any physical threat from the guy though, to be fair its all assumption from us, and i ASSUME Gerrard and co were being idiots. I recently got suspended from work for being an idiot and smacking a guy who wound me up, i paid the price for my idiotic ways and have no excuses. With hindsight on this new knowledge i perhaps should have said 'listen, he wound me up, i felt threatened' But thems the vagaries, or is it aviaries, i'm never too sure

After seeing the FULL CCTV footage, Ray Charles could tell that Stevie Me was not acting in self defence. Getting your minder to elbow the 'DJ' in the face whilst you pull his jumper over his head and uppercut him 3 times in the face is not what I'd call self defence. Reading the evidence, the DJ did not throw any punches.
Woodgate got banned from the England team upon being found guilty of affray, it will be interesting to see the FA's stance on this if he found guilty.

He's been charged with affray, it's very unlikely he will get a custodial sentence. More like a fine and community service at Anfield playing footy with the local tea leaves. If found guilty of course.

If this were any of us, we'd be found guilty based on the CCTV alone. The justice system in the UK is becoming like the US, where you can do pretty much what you want as long as you are rich and/or famous. None of his 6 less well off mates got off did they?

No we wouldn't. You cannot convict on CCTV footage alone, certainly not until they get the kind of HD quality that the CPS are requesting.

Gerrard and a group of his friends were involved in an altercation after the man refused to allow them to choose the songs played on the venue's sound system. Gerrard is a big fan of Phil Collins and counts the singer's greatest hits as his favourite album. He is also partial to Coldplay.
Guilty.

British justice again!! and we thought the OJ Simpson trial was dodgy.
There needs to be an immediate retrial away from Liverpool in somewhere like Manchester, London, Bristol etc.
Gerrard and his family up to their necks in organised crime. No doubt Joey Barton and his ilk will have some sympathy!

Everyone has a right to a defence.
If you can afford it that is. A court of law is a place where those that can afford the biggest liar wins. Those that ave the most cash tend to win regardless of what actually happened.

So the judge says he leaves the court with his reputation in tact? Some reputation! Pity British justice hasn't left the court with it's reputation in tact..............or has it. Bring in Sharia Law!
So let me get this straight if I'm at the bar and I feel threatened by someone approaching me I can hit out and ask questions later? Saying that I feel threatened by every fucker in the bar! ;D From now on every night in Newcastle and Hanley it could be like a scene from the Wild West!
Was he issued with a Section 27???

If you have been in court recently you will observe that the way the British "justice" system works has nothing whatsoever to do with truth, justice, morality or anything else you might have been brought up to believe in. That is all shattered and gone. A lot of people cannot even afford a defence. If you're up against someone with money you haven't got a chance. This country is screwed and these people that earn more in a day than our squaddies earn in a year are our heros and clearly they can do whatever they like, get off with it and they will still be worshipped whilst our soldiers die. Justice is now a joke it really is.

So say you're in a bar in Manchester and a lot of people walk in and you feel threatened. If you attack first are you innocent? ;D (As long as you have more money than them or have Malcolm Clarke and Libertas behind you! )

I think if the trial wasnt held in Liverpool he would of been found guilty. Also the jury probably had liverpool supporters on it.

What a strange affair! The 'victim' never threw a punch, Stevie G threw uppercuts at him like a professional boxer and gets off scott free. And all because the 'victim' refused to hand over a card of some sort. Had the 'victim' been shagging Stevie G's missus then it might have been understandable...but over a fucking card! I think I agree with some of you that money for a top class barrister and a sprinkling of L'pool supporters on the jury was the reason he got off. This case should have been held outside L'pool because you can imagine the pressure on the jurors if they had found the local hero guilty. If I was the CPS, I would appeal and have it tried away from L'pool. How about Manchester? ;D
