Ok I haven't been a Pulis or coates fan, and after numerous poor displays towards the end of pulis last reign, I haven't been attending games.
However even though im not prone to give either any credit whatsever, both perfomances and investment do mean that its time to return.
I was expecting religation after our closed season, and I am so delighted to of been proved wrong.
i would encourage other stay away fans to do the same, if coates and pulis havemnt copnvonced you yet, what else do they need to do?

For me, I haven't been for a while either, it's just a case of entertainment being worth the Travel & Expense (276 miles and approx £100).
It's getting close, real close.

I would think Coates is keen to attract as many fans, whether lapsed fans or new supporters as possible
& quite right too.
In my book if you want to Stoke to win @ all times you are a suuporter of the club whether you go or not,end of.
If you can only (££/time/other circumstances) go once a blue moon then you can only go once a blue moon.

I'm back in the fold, and in the main its due to a recent bit of PR the club have helped my son with. Firstly I tried to register my 7 year old boy for the City 7's as he was between the dates advertized on the website. However, the website was hopelessly out of date and my little lad was not eligable. The club redeemed itself by apologising, updated the website and honouring his city 7 membership-he was made up. On the strength of his membership he decided he wanted to attend the Cardiff game and take a couple of his friends along, he not only recieved his city 7 pack up (Home top, posters, postcard, free tickets to a match and a Britannia savings account with £5 in it) the ticket office also called us back to tell us we were over charged and thus refunded us £30 for the Cardiff game - 2 adults and 3 kids, £43, bargain!! Suffice to say I have gone back, my son is Stoke City mad ( spent all his birthday money in the clubshop) and his friends all want to come as well 300 mile round trip and all!! 4 new 1 returning fan well done Stoke

I really don;t get this attitude from the diehards that the lapsed fans are somehow less worthy people. For the club to progress, it needs to up it;s support. I really don't think this attitude from the regulars helps the situation. For me, I am moving house soon (still a big journey but a doable one) and have earmarked the Palace game on 5th April for my return.
I hope that many others make their way back too!!!

Not in my eyes-if You can't go then You can't go. It is a shame that people do find some flimsy excuses but that's their perogative and they are no lesser of a fan than those that go home and away imo.

Look either the club wants a decent support or not. The pious cuntbags that complain about our poor attendance are the same ones getting on their high horses when people choose for what ever reason to go again. Well it isn't fucking up to you lot, so unfortunately you will have to fucking live with it.

Let me make something clear here, I am not one of the returners, nor did I go to the Newcastle game at the Brit, but it would hardly be fucking glory hunting if I did. We have won fuck all yet. I bet you weren't blarting about glory hunting when we took all those fans to Arsenal, only for the next away game crowd to have dwindled by over 4000. If people want to spend their hard earned on watching Stoke whenever they want it is fuck all to do with anyone else.
Lord B is correct, as long as you want Stoke to win 100% of the time then you are a Stoke fan/supporter. Which leaves mumf out for a start.

so people who have been slagging off Sir Tone and not attending for the last couple of years suddenly next season start attending when we are in the Prem...
they're not gloryhunters?

If folk want to come back good on them- we get moans about low attendances- folk wanting red carpet treatment because they have a ST- moans about fans going at reduced prices and now this.
Is great to see an upturn in fortunes but you will get the yappers unfortunately. I didn't miss a game for 9 seasons but didn't expect a medal- was great to see a big crowd there no matter what the circumstances.

No one has mentioned promotion, next year or Premiership. We are talking about NOW!
If you read Milkies explanation it has fuck all to do with glory hunting and all to do with Stoke improving it's PR and customer service.
Anyway you can't honestly think that our attendance wouldn't go up next year regardless. We will be getting all sorts of fans in our end to watch the likes of Manure and Liverpool, it's just the way it is.

I for one would love big crowds at the Brit and hopefully we will start to get bigger attendances later in the season against the likes of Ipswich Town/Bristol City/Crystal Palace.
All Stokies do what you can to turn up and if you can attend then come along and let's hope it is a successful promotion push.
Whatever reasons you have for not coming often...it does not matter.
No Stoke City supporter is a glory-hunter...end of!
It's now time we all jump upboard the Potters Express. Premier League here we come!

All Stokies, new and lapsed, young and old, should be welcomed. People have various reasons for attending or not, for stopping going to games and starting again.
We should not judge, but be glad if our attendances go up - better atmosphere, more cash for the club, more chance of success in the long-term.
Here's to 20,000 every week to the end of the season. Come on folks, I bet we all know a Stokie who could be persuaded to go along who may not have done otherwise - if only a few thousand of the crowd get a mate to join them, we can top 20 grand.

Jezzascfc is bang on, as is lordb. why treat the stay aways with hostility??? What's the point? At best it achieves nothing, at worst the hostility will keep some away, losing money for the club.
Anyway, I will be back, see you all on April 5th!!!

Potters22 you are too thick to explain anything to. I have answered the same question from you several times, and in fact on this very same thread. How can I be a glory supporter?
I know someone that never attended a home match at the Vic and now professes to be one of Stoke City's top fans. He had excuses like working, bringing up a family etc etc. This person would certainly berate anyone who doesn't attend for any reason now. Short memories some people. Don't stoop to his level.

It's a simple fact that the more successful the club is, the more people will want to come along and be a part of it. If that success is sustained then it becomes a habit and those people are more likely to stick around when the going gets tough. Stoke's problem is that we have basically been too shite for too long, which when coupled with crap managemnt/PR and bad publicity have kept fans away. If this is now on the turn then it can only be for the good.
I for one would rather sit in a full stadium with a decent atmosphere than a half empty one any day.
Welcome one and all!
