I'd have to give it to Beattie, he's really hit the ground running so game for game I think he's the man.
Thoughts?

Beattie has been fantastic but we were doing ok before he even arrived. If he'd been here since day one I think he'd win player of the season.
But for me Abdy Faye is the absolute hero of the season but we've got many many many contenders for a change!

Abdoulaye, a very consistent man mountain he is too, shawcross is up there tho, a better footballer than abdy, proper italian styled centre back, I cant help but see him partnering a jagielka or even a carragher in the very near future...... and not in red and white stripes

It can only be Abdoulaye, with honourable mentions for Shawcross and Wilko.
If Beattie had been here all season he'd have probably been right up there, but as it is, there's only one candidate.

TBH most players have stepped up to the plate in various games,Mama v Villa, Fuller in many games as with Beatie,Ryan with some massive goals Whelan a goal and all round play,Rory has had a good season all round so far,Olies important goal against Arsenal and then Sorro (nuff said) and Wilkinson's steady improvement.Mattie's caused problems but i think their is more to come from him. In short the whole team has done great and if you asked any player they'd probably say its the team rather than 1 individual.
Pugh,Lawrence,Salif and Amdy have all played their part too.
I think Aby will take all the plaudits but for me its been a great team effort and that in short is down to Tony Pulis and his staff.
Ohh and not forgetting everyones favorite uncle (buck) Peter Coates.

Agree with rut66 on this one. Abdoulaye has been solid all season, a complete rock, but in times of need BT and Ryan have been top notch.

Abdoulaye, My Lord has been consistently excellent all season. He is a top, top defender and why the hell the Toon let him go for £2.25M when they were about to sign Collicini (sp) for about 5 times that is beyond belief.
Abdoulaye, My Lord......

I would say that Abdy is the only player who I can't remember having a bad run of form. Wilkinson and Shawcross were caught inexperienced at the start of the season. Wilkinson in particular had nightmare games against Bolton and Middlesbrough at the start of the season. Lawrence has barely played but has been pretty mediocre since he came back. Beattie has been good since hes come here but he's not been here long enough for me. Etherington and Fuller have cost us with indiscipline while Rory has just not impacted games having been stranded on the wing.
I think Abdy has been far and away our top performer. In the centre back and defensive midfield positions I don't think he has a single weakness. Distribution, Positioning, Marking, Heading, Tackling, Ball Control and Composure are all top class.

Its got to be abdy if we are talking over the course of the season.... the amount of goals we have conceded at home is very impressive considering we have only just come up..he has played a huge part in that as a rock in the heart of our defence!!
honourable mentions to shawcross and Beattie who have been fantastic this half of the season .... wilko for most improved player

i hate these tags, the team should win it and they should dedicate it to us the fans. and their grandparents, parents, kids etc if they want.
but seeing as you ask,
abby, sorro wouldnt be far away to give him a shout.

Wilko had a bad start to the season but now I think he should be one of the first names on the team sheet. Abdy and shawcross aswell as sorro and beattie. But wilko recently has been quality. He makes mastakes but someone that can mark ronaldo out the game and keep some of the best wingers in the prem at bay.

Shawcross a better footballer than Abdy? I've never seen a defender so composed on the ball as Abdy. Yeh I wos a bit clumsy there, Faye is without doubt an unbeleivably composed player, player of the season hands down, shawcross is however a more complete footballer, with time and experience to iron out his youthful flaws he will be a better player and a real contender for an england spot
