I think individually the majority of the squad has played to the very limit of their capability for most of the season.
Somebody suggested recently that when the voting takes place for player of the season their should be an option to vote for "the squad".
Which I think is possibly a really good idea.

I think we should not bother having a player of the season award if we're not going to have a player of the season.
Faye for me. Beattie is close if you say 'game for game', but I don't think Beattie's goal per game ratio would hold up had he played the whole season - otherwise he'd probably not be at stoke.
Most improved player for me is shawcross. It's tempting to say wilkinson, but for me wilkinson started the season from a much lower level. He's come on to show us that he is a very reliable defender and has cut the defensive mistakes right out of his game, however his achilles heel, distribution, has only seen modest improvement. Shawcross on the other hand had a lot of expectation on his shoulders, and from a shaky start has grown and grown with every game to a level where you can honestly say he has no major flaw in his game - his confidence is now also sky high and he is clearly starting to develop his leadership qualities - he's not afraid to shout anymore, he helps organise the fullbacks and even Faye. I'm very excited to see the rest of his development, and i think we'll get to see him stick round for a couple of seasons yet - he knows he's guarenteed a starting place if he is playing well at stoke.
Shawcross' development is another testament to Faye who has been schooling him all season.

Individually, Faye has been awesome and deserves all the accolades that are coming his way. Shawcross and Wilkinson have improved beyond measure, and Beattie has been the bargain of the season without a doubt, but you can go right through our team and find players who have gone above and beyond what was expected of them.
But for me, the one thing that has marked us out from everyone else this season is our "12th man". Our support is the envy of every team in the Premiership and regardless of what money the "big boys" have available, it is something that you cannot buy. Every player has his price, and every player can be replaced, but there is nobody who can take away our 12th man and there is not a team on this planet who have anything that could replace him.

Faye individually the best player.
Wilko most improved, especially after the bile that was spewed about the lad after the Manure game at home.
Honourable mention for Shawcross
Beattie signing of the last 6 months.
