First of all Pulis, Beattie and Stoke City are not safe. Lose on Saturday and we're right back in it. Secondly, Beattie has been a great signing but one player hasn't saved the manager or the club. Pulis identified the player, Coates funded the purchase and the ten other players on the pitch have contributed magnificently alongside Beattie. Credit to all of them. And as for wasting money on Kitson, Ollie, Soares, Tonge do you think Coates would have stayed loyal to Pulis if he thought all of his cash had been wasted? 6 points clear, 13th position and seven games to go is fantastic. But the minute we become complacent we will lose some of our edge. We're not safe. Pulis is not saved. And Beattie's 36 grand a week would be a huge liability in the championship. Seven games to go and we've still got to give it everything. Come on Stoke!!! Spot on.. No room for complacency...Sheff Utd were 10 points clear of the relegation zone at this point in the season but still went down

you say that, but all of these players have contributed in small, but important ways. Tonge came on and had a big effect vs Sunderlnand, we went on to win. Soares won us 2 penalties against Tottenham, we scored one and won. Olofinjana scored the goal that killed of Arsenal.
These players are sub-standard, but once again they were all signed under Tony's work ethic mentality and each one has contributed this season, in a season that looks more and more like it's going to b a success

Thanks for finding that Grapey. I'd noticed that the Sheffield United 10 point gap example had been used a few times in the last 48 hours and I was sure it was wrong, but couldn't be arsed (or more to the truth I didn't know how ) to find the evidence to dispute it. It really will be a first in the history of the PL if we are relegated from our current position.

I agree we shouldn't be complacent, but the whole Tevez and West Ham debarcle isn't going to be an issue with us, unlike with Sheff Utd, so we know it's all down to TP and the team.

Perhaps Pulis saved Beattie. Before Stoke he wasn't a Premier league player.

I think £3m for Olofinjana was money well spent because that goal off his face and chest (which came first?) made Arsene Wenger cry like a girl, which is priceless really. Even though it's not exactly rare.

The answer to your question is NO. JB has done a great job so far and you have to say well done to TP for 'pushing the boat out' to get him, and for signing Ethers. Great bit of management. Would it be accurate to ask "Has Tony Pulis saved James Beattie's Top Flight Career" Some people will NEVER give the man the credit he so richly deserves. Exactly my thoughts when I saw the headline. It's a two way street with BT gaining as much if not more than TP

They needed each other Pulis-needed a proven goal scorer to push us on Beattie- needed somone to show him the faith to give him a shot at the prem again and with beattie knocking on the england door and us up to 13th you have to say its worled rather well

Signing Beattie is a masterstroke and the work of genius, yet signing Kitson and other rubbing rags is brushed under the carpet. All managers make good and bad signings - Pulis is no different. Beattie and Ethers are good signings and were what we needed at the time. In fact we needed a wide left player for 5 years but still. Kitson, Sonko Olifinyana are poor signings and in hindsight (some things that the Rimmers rely on) were a waste of money. Pulis is doing his job as a football manager. And doing it pretty well as of this moment wouldn't you say Pugs?
