Now with a degree in BBC Predictor studies, you'd think we'd be as safe as houses on 41.
And it's almost not feasible for Sunderland, Hull and Newcastle to all reach 40 with any vaguely predictable combination of results from this point.
But as Greavesie once famously said 'I want a double whisky...on the rocks'.....er..I mean..'It's a funny old game, Saint'.

lets be honest there is no point looking at other teams at the moment we are in control and need to carry on picking up results when possible! aslong as we are safe i could give a monkeys about other teams... we need to pick up these results 1st

Please please no pitch invasion. As stated in a previous thread FA could take very dim view of this and deduct points from us. Especially so if Lord Sheep Shearer manages to get the geordies relegated. They would love a legal wrangle with us and the FA to get them re-instated. Couldn't think of worse scenario tbh so please just dunner do it.

I would like to see 3 wins & a draw for certain, and that is very achievable.

IF we win on Sat I think we'll only need 2 or 3 pts more. The key is to stay on pace with Castle. When we beat them, it will be over.

Surley if we beat Cartoon Army Satdee, they will be 9 points behind us with 6 games to play. I conner see them winning 4 out of six. So lets push for the win Satdee and that'll keep us up. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONN STOKE!!!

as its been said keep pace with newcastle, the pressure is on them, they have to pick up points now or they are doomed. stoke need to concentrate on their own games, other teams having shocking run ins e.g. hull, sunderland, blackburn, all still have to play a couple of teams from the top 5. 7 points will do it, but can see us picking up 11 or 12 hopefully

I think a point a game average would be ok now. That's pretty much what we've been averaging up till the last two weeks so if we could scrape together another 7 I think we'd be OK on 42.
I hope Wigan and West Ham arrive with nothing to play for except avoid injuries and we should make it quite clear that we will hurt you if you bother to try!

Looking at the run-ins for those involved in the relegation scap, I can see as many as 6 clubs finishing on less than 40 points.
We'll finish on about 42.

Newcastle 1pt Blackburn 0pts (don't fancy this one). Fulham 1pt West Ham 3pts Hull 1pt Wigan 1pt Arsenal 0pts
42 pts? (I know 7pts out of the last 21 sounds very pessimistic - but it will still be enough to stay up).

Our only task now is to score better than any ONE of the FOUR teams immediately below us. Highly unlikely we'd go down on 40 points (though it is possible). Main reason being, some of the teams around us play each other so one or both MUST drop points.

The players have to keep focussed. Winning any games in this league is a tremendous achievement for them. I have supported Stoke for far too long. I just know a lot of nail biting is left this season.

I'd settle for that March. We've still got plenty to do but have given ourselves a great chance. Just pray people down get 'down' if we lose a few. The end result is all that matters at this stage. Keep the faith whatever the next few results are.

Keep the faith whatever the next few results are. Until I did the predictor, I was quite happy that we were almost safe now. It was a real shock to the system as a worst case scenario of what could happen.

I know it's natural in all of us but we really do have to simply take it game by game and have 7 chances to get 4 or 5 points that I am confident will be enough. People need to realise that, however desireable it might be, we may not get them in the next 2 games.

A win on Saturday will, I think, take us 80% there. A draw wouldnt be a terrible result but defeat and we are back in trouble. Beyond that (which is as close as I can personally get to 'facts') then its 'wait and see' Would rather be us than Castle though

The key to this one for me is Sunderland.
I cant see them getting more than 6 points
Shit H 0 Hull H 3 West Brom A 1 Everton H 1 Bolton A 1 Pompey A 0 Chelsea H 0
That puts them on 38 pts 3rd from bottom.
45 pts for us 12th

Newcastle is a must win game. We would be 9 clear of them and at least 8 of Boro. With 6 games to go. I don't think that gap would be closed.

I know it doesn't mean that much either but the current odds not to be relegated, according to Uncle Peter, are:
West Brom 16/1 Middlesbrough 10/3 Newcastle 1/1 Hull 2/7 Sunderland 1/6 Stoke 1/16 Portsmouth 1/16 Blackburn 1/50
Note that Bolton - 2pts above us - aren't even on the list. Win on Saturday and we won't be either, it's that simple - if we get to 38pts on Saturday, 9pts clear of relegation, there is no way that every team below us (Blackburn in 14th down to Newcastle in 18th) will all finish with a higher points tally than us.
No team on 38pts, with 6 games to go, has ever been relegated from the Prem, and with so many teams below us if we win, we will not go down if we win on Saturday.

I reckon, that basically if we win on Saturday, we will pretty much ensure staying up, and could also condemn Newcastle.
Not properly, but it would take a miracle for them to escape with their games left.

I think the Newcastle game is an hard one to call , if we beat them , i think it will be hard for them to recover , if they get any kind of result from us , it may just be the beginning of the Shearer revival
