It'd be better than nothing, but corners filled in would be the best, but only if we could fill them. there's nothing worse than a Boro style big filled in corners ground that's half empty at every match.

where would the Sky box be going if the windbreaker goes in that corner?

"The windbreak will be 130 feet wide and 16 feet thick" I still think it could be the Beast!

great idea, pointless putting more seats in until were selling out week in week out, which we aint, plus this is our 1st season back, hopefully if we stay up these 'new' fans will continue to come then maybe we will be able put more seats in.

Get it built. My nuts freeze in the Winter in the Seddon.
And in the Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Sunderland was way back in October and there were just single seats as my brother had to sit in the JSU because everywhere else was sold out, Man City sold out and was on TV, Pompey sold out, Bolton sold out, Fulham sold out,

The only game this season that hasn't sold out to home fans is, strangely, Arsenal

Wasn't this initially meant to be up-and-running some time last summer, with Sky Sports sponsorship?
It could make a big difference to the aesthetics of the stadium but it does seem to rule out any capacity increase in the short-term.

Spot on do you think it will be done in time for the Newcastle game ? god knows matey, if they're as rapid with this as they were with the big screen then we'd better get the thermals at the ready & look forward to the half time artic match between polar bears & king penguins...... only time will tell... one saving grace is thats its gettin warmer.. ISH!!!!!!

Brazil've got one as you can see on the far side. I hope ours (if we get one) looks better than that, it looks a bit shabby to me.

Leave it as it is i say, it makes it all the more tougher for opposing teams when they come here.

Leave it as it is i say, it makes it all the more tougher for opposing teams when they come here. totally agree mate if they,re not increasing capacity leave it. as for it affects our play, i don,t think we,d get many more home pts whatever we did to ground. does anybody think we,ll honestly start playing like the arse if we lose the swirling wind? it will only help the away teams. oh and if your cold wear a bigger coat you bunch of tarts! ;D

Post by crimesy on Mar 28, 2009 11:48:25 GMT
I think i'd prefer to be a little cold and to watch opposition teams struggling with the constant wind which often swirls the entire pitch making long balls very hard to defend.

I can't see how it's going to look anything other than naff to be honest. It's just a shame the ground wan't build with all corners filled in at the beginning! It looks like that'll never happen now. ....the mighty DARLO have what we should have done! 25k capacity, exactly what we should have done. Pi$$es me off to see it getting a "vale" sized crowd

I think all the wind on the pitch helps us against Premiership teams. Sunderland and Tottenham didn't want to know on a cold windy night, they looked like they wanted to be anywhere else in the world.

No problems with that, as it is being classed as "semi-permanent". Let's hope tha, due to future progress on the pitch, will lead to permanent 'cornering', a larger shop and super duper training facilties. My major problem with the Brit, is that we must surely be the only club to have DEcreased ground capacity on being promoted! Re the South Stand, I will never understand why we need an 800 seat no-man's land, when all other clubs visited, have managed with the odd hundred or so. We have around 14 seats width of wasted seating, - looking awful on TV - when most clubs have one or two seats.

Does anyone have any idea how long it would take to build a corner stand? I would guess that with planning consent it would take over a year.
