They are to host our remaining home reserve games this season and maybe next season as well according to the official site.

Seems a very odd decision to me. Apparantly it is due to pitch issues but it's only two more bloody games.
Still, if it brings a bit of income to a local side then I suppose it is good.

bit of a pain in the arse its a fair distance to travel for a reserve game now, i usually go to the home games but don't think i will travel to nantwitch. Surely the brit could have coped with two more gams ? ???

Great news, its only 10 mins away for me and its where my son goes football coaching.
Its a really nice ground with parking right outside and should be a cracking atmosphere.

It's not considered 'Premier League quality'. Can you imagine Nantwich or Barnet in the Prem? ;D As far as I'm aware, Fulham play their reserve games on their training ground.

So we could play Championship reserve games on there but its too shite for the Premier League? Deary me! Nantwich in the Premier League, eh hmmmmmm ;D

I don't see how the Brit pitch can be showing the strain. We play four less first team league games than we did in the Championship and we have played no cup games on it since we went out to Derby in the League Cup. So it should have coped with 8 reserve games ok.
Having said that the Weaver stadium does look nice and atmosphere should be better than a 3% full Brit! - especially if some of the locals go along to watch.

That is one of the argued cases actually John. I think the club believe some Crewe and Nantwich fans will pay money to see the Premier League stars. You know, Cresswell and the like. Surely worth £3 of anybody's hard earned cash?

It's not considered 'Premier League quality'. I take it that's why Vale Park wasn't considered then?

they had quite a few problems with their pitch flooding when it was first opened, built on the river weaver flood plain. A decent little clubhouse as well.

Surely worth £3 of anybody's hard earned cash? Perhaps the long term option (once the Mich development is finished) would be to help Newcastle Town get their pitch and stadium up to standard so reserve games could once again be held there. It is close to the Brit and the Mich and would be ideal for Reserve games if the quality was right. Or would parking problems cause the local residents to be up in arms?

The pitch is really good and it is a cracking little stadium and only a 10 min walk into Nantwich if you fancy a few beers after the game.

It might have something to do with Tony Scholes as he takes his son to football coaching there too.

It is something Stoke have had on the cards for some time switching the matches to Nantwich, they were hoping the Pompey game last week would of been played there but it wasn't to be. As for Scholes son, rumour has it he is the worst of the bunch in his age group and was never even scouted by Stoke. Scholes just turned up with him one day! Fair play to the lad though getting a knock at our beloved club.

Tony is a decent bloke and his son wears Stoke colours even though he is really a Blackburn rovers fan as thats where he grew up.
