While watching the match I am just looking at the league as well.
Home form is good I think. Fortress Brittannia seems to be holding up as we have only lost three. What really is concerning me is the ten we have lost away. Also we have only drawn three away as well (granted to teams like Liverpool).
Can our home form keep us up bearing in mind Blackburn have a game in hand. I would be much happier if surely we could scrape three cheeky away wins to improve that form.
Is Blackburns spare game against Man Ure. If that is the case then it may not be as bad for us.
I am sure we can stay up. Gutted if we don't make it.

not without a fair few draws away from home, we need to win away somewhere to make it easier, we can't rely just on home form

What about the Baggies game?

Lets be so optimistic here, 7 home games win 6 of these and that is 18 points total 42 points. Answer is on the proviso yes we can stay up, but we will get 3 draws away, Hull, Fulham, Baggies.
At home Wigan hard. Away, Villa, Everton, Arsenal, those 3 highly unlikely, but then as I mentioned on a previous thread, knowing Stoke we will beat Villa or Everton, its just what Stoke do isnt it?

No, we have to win and pick up a draw or two away I think sadly.
Going down doesn't bear thinking about!

The only away game i can see we have a chance of winning is west brom and hopefully 2 or 3 draws along the way. We have to win 4 of our remaining home games and get a couple of draws at home too.

Our record seems very similar to that of Sunderland last season.Cracking home points tally but couldn't buy a win away from home - and they stayed up!!

IMO yes, if our home form stays good. Our hame games from now all all very winnable, Pompey, Bolton, Boro, West Ham, Wigan, Newcastle, Blackburn. Win five and it should definitely see us safe as I can see 36/7 point being enough. A few points on the road certainly wouldn't go amiss though.

Think it will probably take 40/41 points to stay up this season.Five wins and a draw from 13 games definitely possible.Home wins against Bolton,Middlesboro,Blackburn and Wigan and an away win at West Brazil and a couple of draws against Pompey this weekend and perhaps Hull away should she see us safe!! So yes we could conceivably stay up without winning a single away fixture. I wonder if that has ever been done before??

I don't seee it taking that many points, it's too tight at the bottom, the 40 point ''rule'' usually only applies when one/two team(s) is/are cut off.

I can't see us beating Blackburn and Bolton at home though. They are like us but with better players.

Trouble is that these home games are going to be against teams, who like us, are fighting for their lives, and it is the norm that such games usually tend to end up as 0-0/1-1 draws. I can only see us winning about 3/4 of our home games, with a couple of defeats thrown in,just based on the law of averages and luck etc. That will mean, we will need about 5 points from our last 6 away games to reach the 40 points mark. I can see it going to the last game of the season, and an all hands to the pump decider at Arsenal, with fans glued to their radios, and matches ebbing and flowing right up to the last minute.

There seem to be a lot of people on here who think that we just have to turn up at the Hawthorns to beat West Brom. They've won five games at home this season, just one less than us, and their one away win means that they've won exactly the same amount of games as we have! Apparently, though, they're doomed.
I'm very uncomfortable with this dismissive attitude towards the game at West Brom. We might have a great record against them, particularly at the Vic/Brit, but our away record this season is little short of appalling and West Brom will be treating this game as quite probably their biggest, most important game of the season.
It will be much tougher than many are expecting.

I agree it will be tough but if we are going to win away then this is the one we will probably do it in, if we go there and lose then i think that speaks volumes and will probably admit we deserve to be relegated.

I'd like to think we can but we can't think we will win our home games, we've got some big "6 pointers" coming up an away win would give a big boost in Morale and make the rusty bullet hole twitching that little bit easier

no

Put money on a few binary results at home 0-0 and 0-1's....it will happen when average teams will come to the brit and defend...do we really have the guile and creativity to break them down..occassionally yes, but 5 wins puts huge pressure on us and a strategy to go out every game and attack early on and hoping for an early goal....so we simply have to get points away from home. I said early in the season that unless our away form improves it will relegate us...with 2/3rds of the season gone we haven't found any consistency away from home
