Nice one Mr.Coates and all at SCFC and well done Edward for making a stand on this issue. A big thanks to Malcolm and all at FSF with the help of liberty for making this happen. We have all been watching this develop over the last few months and I think we all hope for a successful outcome. It`s not just about Stoke fans,it`s football fans all over the country .

Away fans say Stoke fans are protected by the police, Villa said it West brom Arsenal and Spurs, police and stewards only threaten away fans who gesture, and i agree with them, thats how it should be too.

We still need money for our "watching football is not a crime" campaign, which was kicked off by S27, so if any stokies want to follow the club's example ( not to the tune of £20k obviously - even the cost of a pint, £2.70, would be welcome) you can do so on-line www.fsf.org.uk/campaigns/Watching-football-is-not-a-crime.phpAs I said in the piece, I have never known a football club make a gesture like this in support of its fans. Usually they don't want to know, because they are more interested in keeping onside with the plod than they are in individual justice. It is hugely to the credit of Peter Coates and Tony Scholes that the Club have been prepared to stand up and be counted. I am increasingly confident that we are going to get a result here.

Have got to say on record that the club have been superb throughout this issue, particularly Tony Scholes.
He comes in for a lot of stick from fans on here but lets all give credit where it is due to Tony and Peter.
This will be a great victory for football fans in general and it is absolutely superb that the club is backing it 100%

Best of luck chap, take it all the way, and well done SCFC for getting behind you.

That is true Paul. Everyone has been unbelievably helpful over it. To be honest, i am surprised at 2 things mainly. One is that the landlord of the pub spoke out against his own police force which he did not have to do and indeed could compromise his own livelihood and the other is the club getting as invloved as they have, which again, is putting them out on a limb with the police. Both deserve a lot of credit. I will be visiting the landlord shortly to offer my thanks for this.
Malcolm and Anna from Liberty have done all of the hard legal work and a lot of praise must go to them for that, i dont think i would have got this far without them. It is a scary and risky business taking on the authorities and you absolutely need top level legal brains on the job.
I would urge all of you Stoke fans to join the FSF, the magazine is an excellent read and they are always there if any of you should ever find yourselves in a similar position although i sincerely hope you never do. it is only a small cost per year and is well worth it.

this is fantastic
can't believe how far the club has come in such a short space of time
a real rapport is being built with the fans, makes me proud
the club is starting to feel like a real community club and i hope this stays the same, no matter what division we are in
i'll be contributing to the online fund

This is great news, so glad someone is standing up to this draconian, and quite frankly scary, law. It's a ridiculous that the police can push you around and ship you from city to city based on what they think you may or may not do.
Credit to the club for this gesture.

It's not just about the money but the club making a principled stand.
The Police State is coming to a country near you, if we don't make a stand.
And let's not forget the principle the club has taken re ID cards, when the police have regularly abused this system and cardholders.
Goooooaaaaaaaarn!!

I'm sorry, but you've gotta' sympathise with the GMP on this one. Crikey, they must have felt so threatened by Mr Edwards in his Stone Island designer spectacles and replica shirt... Good on ya' Eddie and Stoke City, hope this action brings about the end of the abuse of S27 at football.
