Defeats against City and Sunderland should result in one thing. I don't have an axe to grind with Tony but defeats in the next two games make it near mission impossible. The only hope then would be to get some impetous from a new manager. Tony appears to be burying his head somewhat and lacking in inspiration. He has done a cracking job but he is not a God and pretty soon that is what we may well need. Come on Tony do what you are paid to do get them lads fired up and go for the jugular from the off.

He wont get the sack! He is Coates's man, so I would expect him to be the manager even in the worst case scenario of us getting relegated

Then Coates is not a very shrewd businessman. This game is about results and no wins in about 12 games would be woeful. We don't have a lot of time to turn it around so Tony either gets his act together or goes.

I say keep him, because we have a manager who can get us back out of the championship should we go go down.

he wont get the sack, and even if he did bearing in mind he is being sacked because its as you say near mission impossible. Which god like messiah is going to come in and rescue the club from an impending relegation to the championship. I know people are pissed off at him doing what he's doing but there is no way he will get sacked before October no matter what league we are playing in and how we're playing. I just cant see it happening.

TP will NOT get the sack
We have been in and around the bottom three for the majority of the season, but NOT ONCE has TP been mentioned on SSN or in the bookmakers lists as the NEXT ONE TO GO
I call it blind faith - but like most people on here - he deserves a full season

if we go down with tone then we are stuck with him for another season, another season of awful football, negative tactics and bizarre selections. personally ive had enough, last night was embarrassing and we cant leave it too long.the question of who to get in remains but at the moment anything is an improvement,it is imperative we stay up and its not gonna happen with such a stubborn inflexible manager.

Coates is an incredibly bright entrepreneur with a very sharp brain and has a vast wealth of experience in football and so imo TP is safe for a good while yet.
Similarly some posters on here are stuck in mundane jobs with little or no hope of improving their lot! I think I'll stick with PCs judgement

Why is it "imperative" that we stay up? I don't think that our relegation will be the catalyst for Armageddon will it? Like most I will be bitterly disappointed should we be relegated, but it will not be the end of the my world. To me the game was not so much an embarrassment but more an indication of the lack of real prem quality players we have in our squad at the moment. What I saw was a squad of players giving their all and busting a gut to compete against a technically superior outfit. And realistically it is going to take a good few seasons in the prem for us to be able to afford/develop a squad that will be able to compete technically. At the moment, to be honest, we have to rely on, organisation, heart & commitment with a dash of skill & luck thrown in. TP is not perfect & he does make some, to us, strange selections & choice of tactics, but he certainly seems to get the commitment to the cause from his players. Until it is mathematically impossible for us to stay up I am going to remain confident that we will survive!!!

Well he openly admitted that his plan wasn't working so maybe a change is on the cards. Goarrn Tone play a 4-3-3 and lets rip up the Brit. We have scores to settle.

I agree Potters Pride, I really don't think we will go down because we do have Pulis, but if we were to, I'd want the man who got us here to have another crack at it

He's also the twat who nearly destroyed the Club a few years ago.
He would have Pulis out without a backward glance if it meant him furthering his ambitions...
and once it dawns on him what a plonker he's got for a manager it wont take long, believe me !
The natives are restless
the smoke is swirling

The natives are restless the smoke is swirling the past should stay in the past!!!!!!!! i have forgiven coates for his first reign of our club, hes more than made up for it, by giving loads of cash to sir tp and loads of wages to get us here in the first place and "the natives" were restless with coates appointing tp in the first place if you remember that far back, i wonder if you were celebrating when tony got us in th prem??? we have got a bright future now. the club is on its way forward and is looking a lot better than when i first starting supporting us, about 89/90ish (im 24)

Post by Titan Uranus on Jan 29, 2009 0:17:29 GMT
that bright future will look a whole lot duller if we go back down this season
make no mistake about it there is no God given right to come back up.... in fact the odds are stacked in favour of a hibernation in the second tier followed by a period of decline (check the history)
Pulis has done a good job
but he is not the man to take us to the next level

Personally, I think themikester is not his real name. It is the pseudonym for someone who is actually higher on the "Rich List" than Coates is and he is therefore well qualified to advise Coates on business matters. We should listen to what he says - he talks sense! ;D

If he goes it will be end of season. What good would Pullis going before the end of season do, taking into consideration that a new manager would take time to bed in

I would be certain he's got this and next season regardless, if only he would drop Cresswell...I'm sure if he did this the fans would back him 100%. I've always liked Pulis and at no point have I ever called for his head, but for fucks sake Tone, lets play the best 11 and fuckin have a good crack at it. I'm convinced we can put an 11 out that would stay in this league no problem.

I think 2 wins in the next 3-4 games and we'll all be jumping through hoops.
