Gone ave the times when a local talent persuing his way through to the first team will get a chance.
100million pounds on a player is just ridiculous.
All academies may as well be scrapped and our national team in 20 years time is going to be non existant.
The heritage of clubs is now being wiped out by these foreign investors!!
Absolute joke.

just said the exact same thing to a mate of mine! Football will be ruined if clubs start paying this much for a player ! Lets be realistic.......he's not that good that he would be worth £100m !

Its an extension of whats been going on for years. i remenber the fuss when Beckham was getting something like the top wage earners at Stoke appear to be getting now and its not that many years ago. Something will break at the end of all this and I suspect it may be irrepairable

At least Kaka sees that this is the case and hasnt moved for the money.
Good on you Kaka.
To be fair AC's team is pretty mint, I dont know why you would swap for a team 2 places above the relegation zone.

if kaka had of moved it would be the end of football because there was no other reason than money involved, we all know Robihno moved for the cash but he wasnt getting a game the kaka situation was a whole different story and well done kaka

To be fair, you can't juist push a team to the world elite list with money.
Abramovich has had some success doing this with Chelsea but you can't compete with the prestige of AC Milan, Real Madrid etc. It's taken years and a whole lot of history to get to the prestige status of the top clubs.
At least Chelsea have the lure of London for the top players. I just don't see the attraction of Man City for the likes of Kaka.........except for the money.
Hughes has the right idea with 'his' list of targets. Build slowly.....

Absolute cack mate. Man City have the money at the moment - why should they be denied what Chelsea, Man Utd, Blackburn and Liverpool have done in the past? It's all bitter jealousy from everyone but City fans. The money is obscene BUT the bloke has it to spend.
Good luck to them I say - make the most of it. If it were Stoke we wouldn't be complaining.

I dont think its the principle of money pugsley, its the extent of money they are offering which in turn will jack up the prices of the future meaning that only teams with Eastern oil barons or American big wigs will be able to compete.
If all the good players are 100m then the Premiership roster would not change very much, it may well be the same 20 teams each season.
I personally like it close, workin arrd and the like.

Chelsea did it, why should city be denied?
Look at Chelsea now - Roman Ab is losing interest and Chelsea are on the wain. Same will happen to City.
I love it on here - the other day I was slagged off because I questioned our Manager and said he should be under pressure to keep us up having spend £34million in the last 18 months.
Now another club is spending money to chase success it's now bad for football.
I suppose it's OK for some clubs to spend money as long as other clubs are not allowed to spend a lot more even though they can afford it.
Football is morally bankrupt, that's a fact but I think it's rich for anyone to moan about it when it's been going on for ages.

Football was ruined by Sky, not rich Arabs.
Everything that has gone wrong since the creation of the 'Premiership' can be attributed to Sky (and by association everyone that pays per month for it).

I think football was "ruined" much much longer ago than this or Sky. I think the obscene wages and hence , the huge transfer fees, go all the way back to people like George Eastham, who went on strike 40 plus years ago to get the maximum wage abolished. These guys are getting paid, mega bucks, for what most blokes would do for nowt, to play the game they love, for the team they love. How do you justify an average premier league player getting paid more per week than a fully qualified nurse earns in a year?????

Sky reporting that they are offering £250,000 a WEEK!!!! They could get Periwank on a free and pay him £250 a week and save a few quid!! ;D

The simple solution is a transfer and wage cap, but i can't see that being enforced anytime soon.

The simple solution is a transfer and wage cap, but i can't see that being enforced anytime soon. Yeh, that'd be great, then all the best players would leave these shores and play in another country where they do pay top dollar for players. I don't think any of this really effects us, just because kaka goes for £100m it doesn't mean we'll have to pay extra for the Etheringtons and Beatties of this world, we're fishing in a different pond anyway. To be honest, I wouldn't want the premiership to be any different than what it is now, I'm quite enjoying it, these things go in cycles, no doubt soon another country will have all the money and players will go there instead of England, and we can go back to those glorious years of the 1980's

Spot on. I actually want to see Man City spend ridiculous sums of money on players and win everything in sight. That way the powers that be might (just might given their usually spineless nature) do something to make it all fairer for everyone. At the moment the Prem is a four horse race and has been for years simply because those four teams have all the cash. Yet as long as there is a semblance of competition between the four, the FA and Sky will do nothing. Let Man C buy everyone, win everything, bore everyone rigid and properly ruin football and we may eventually move away from this situation where money wins titles.

Liverpool in the 70's and 80's, ManU in the 90's and 00's have already done a pretty good job of ruining football by making money the main requirement. Man City are just about putting the top hat on it all

Blackburn were the first to buy the title and then Chelsea. So it is those two that have fucked football up.
Oh and I almost forgot, Arsenal have done their fair share by not fielding any English players in their sides

Oh and I almost forgot, Arsenal have done their fair share by not feilding any English players in their sides Yes - and Fergie built his Man U empire without spending? Everyone who wins the Premier title ultimately "buys" it. Do you think we will ever see the days again where a team wins division 11 (CCC) and goes straight on to win the Prem? Liverpool, Chelsea, and Man U are consistantly in the top 4 because they spend more money, to bring in better players than anyone else can afford, and players will join them because they think they will win stuff. The only exception to the rule is Arsenal, who are reluctant to spend quite as much.
