Great signing of Beattie and Etherington - both players with something to prove which I think appeals to the manager.
Lawrence is back, Fuller & Mama back soon and with a good pacey right back we have the players to survive.

He's signed some very good players, it's up to the players now!!
We must forget though, we are still in the 3 weakest squads in the division, so if we go down, we go down. I certainly won't be blaming anyone.

Pug - some managers have been given that to spend on one player. He hasn't got the squad yet 3 or 4 additions and he's got a chance of achieving 14th or 15th. |

No, I'm saying that the club has spent £34million on players in 18 months. Just how much money will he have to spend before ANYONE can question the Manager if he doesn't get results.
I love rimmers (oh-er) - they eulogise over Pulis and his ability on a shoe string, but when he gets barrow loads of cash suddenly expectations are frowned upon.

If truth be told, I think that's a fair comment from Pugsley, well to a point.
If we go down and Hull or the Baggies finish above us, there's going to be a fair few editorials come the end of the season, seriously scrutinizing the money that Pulis has spent.
Of all the promoted managers I would think that Pulis will be under the most pressure to prove his credentials, simply because he has been given the biggest opportunities.

what a crock of shit, 30 million gets you naff all in relative terms. A lot of teams in the prem spend that on 2 players. We have a competative team in the best league in the world for 30 million... bargain if you ask me (not that you were) |

It's tremendous amount of money compared to what we've been used to. It's not a tremendous amount by Premier League standards, particularly when you start from virtually scratch, as we did.

Just answer this - if Stoke go down having spent £30million plus (I think we will sign another player) do you think that is acceptable? I don't, but it's about opinions. Compared with Hull we have spent a little more (in Prem terms) but even the likes of the Baggies will have spent more over the past few seasons - and they are one of the weakest teams in the league Value the squads and you will do well to find a cheaper one - other than Hull So putting things back in perspective we will do well if we do survive and be a bit disappointed if we dont ...though of course we will survive!!!  Be positive Puggs - throw off those chains of despair and join the fun - you might even get to like it |

Sounds to me like you cant wait for us too fail? Why cant you just applaud pulis for attracting quality proven players instead of saying the pressure is now on. Anyone would think this is your money he's spent? No it peter coates's money,and for me whether we survive or go down coates will keep the faith with pulis and so he should,there isnt many chairman/managers who get on as well as ours do! Be positive for once and not sound like a wannabe P.H.W!  |

Just had a quick look at the Baggies squad which cost some £33m Some of their aquisitions are not valued being overseas purchases So with a squad well in excess of £30m West Brom were rightly one of the favourites to go down One major factor for any club suddenly throwing money about is that quite a percentage of buys will be duds - as TP has found out Established clubs are just improving squads that have already survived And pressure - there is always pressure - seem to recall some fans calling for TP's head as recently as last season Some fans expectations will be unrealistically raised and I guess that is what Puggs is saying - hopefully most will give him enough rope to...... |

try valuing the Spurs squad, Modrić alone cost £16.5m, and they are currently below us.
Who exactly do you think will go down? If it's not us it means that one of the "established" prem teams will be going down. I would say that virtually all the squads who were in the premiership last season still cost more than ours, so what right do we have to stay up? If we do stay up I'll be delighted but I won't be shouting for TP's head if we don't.
One of the other problems teams have is that we are looking to expand and improve our squad very quickly, and we have to move quickly now on the players available, since our squad probably isn't strong enough. The established premiership teams have taken years to build their squads and can add quality to them bit by bit. When you do enlarge your squad so quickly, as TheWiseMaster has pointed out, some of the players you buy won't be of the standard you'd ideally want. I think if TP could have his time again he might not have been panicked into buying both Tongue and Soares at the end of the last window.

Please note, we are not comparing apples with apples.
Teams spend 30 million tweaking a premiership squads season on season.
We have spent 30 million trying to transform a championship squad to a premier league sqaud.
We will stay up this season because of Pulis and he will do it do less money than most other clubs, keep the faith.
