It's another notch on your CV though isn't it, willing to work hard, organise people blah blah - possible team leader etc. And also a sense of pride and achievemnet in yourself, no wonder the Polish call the brits lazy out of order that is im not lazy, i want to work more than anything, but why would i risk losing money to work for free?? noone wants any work done either otherwise i would do foreigners and like stafford says, will you be housing me when the government refuse to help me with my rent??? you wouldn't risk losing money if you did something useful for the community, why would you even think that? And as Sal says it opens up avenues. The amount of people I know just with running a junior football club is about 200, that's 200 potential contacts who have other contacts from all walks of professional life. Poeple I know own companies, work for electrical, data cabling, fit out, mechanical maintenance the lot. PS - I've turned down a request from an agency this morning to go for a £48k job in Ellsemere Port, don't want to jump ship with times how they are at the moment and take a pay cut. So if anybody is looking for a FM projects job in ellsemere port let me know.

By calling people lazy because they don't/cant do voluntary work without bothering with the facts. Jog on son. Edit. Forgot to say. I am a sparky. I am getting plenty of cash in hand but not enough to earn a good wage so not worth signing off. So you see I don't have time to do voluntary work.

what a fucking bell end Northwichstokie is and you know that do you? I've run many races for charity raised £800 last year, the year before did the 3 peaks raised £1000.00 both for childrens hospice for dying children, I give 15-20 hours of my time each week helping kids to play football (was posting leaflets through school doors at 6.30 in the morning offereing coaching this Sunday morning before getting to work) . Any players worth noting I pass their names to a Stoke scout, he's had 2 off me who went straight into theadvanced academy this year - and I don' have free tickets I've passed links on here to many a website that was advertising jobs, when somebody asked, can't remember who it was. I won't bother helping anybody else out again. I was getting authorisation to recruit for a maintenance supervisor yesterday but won't bother posting it on here. I pay my taxes on time every month My frustration is people said not working is doing their head in, making their mums depressed etc. I offer a way of alleviating that problem until they can find work but they didn't want to know about it, I have 3 kids but still manage to find time to help others out. Let's just hope that all people who volunteer don't pack it in, where would the country be then? There is different trains of thought, everybodies entitled to them. mine is - what can I do for the community and country others are - what can I get out of this community and country Unfortuantely IMO it's the latter that's got us into this mess we find ourselves in.

in an attempt at getting this thread back to what it was started for, did anyone else apply for the cleansing and grounds operatives with stoke council ? the job was supposed to be starting soon, i rung them last monday and was told that they'd been in-undated with applications and could'nt even get the short list drawn up yet. just wondering if anybody else had heard anything. i'm no further forward now than when losing my job in december. getting worried, depressed and angry now.

northwich, please don't stop posting jobs when they come up. I'm just glad this thread's proving to be some use. But one thing it's really made clear is what different places people's head are in when they're out of a job or in one.
