Yet another classic Pulis quote, "we were in the game first half" What a statement to come out with, relevant, yes had we have been playing Barca, but ffs this was hartlepool Well i for one hope that the saying, " give someone enough rope and they will hang themselves" will come to pass after the rope has lengthened to an unsupportable level after liverpool, chelski, spurs and man city defeats. PULIS OUT!Pleeeeaaaasssse

Yes Dave, my point being that it's all very well eulogising about being in the Premiership - and don't get me wrong, I think its fantastic - but that seems to be all there is for some. I did think that we'd go down, but I was hoping that the following season we'd get out of the Championship the right way 'cos Pulis would've spent wisely. Major doubts now, mate!

'in the game' against Hartlepool?? Fair play to them, they've had a great day but we really couldn't afford to make idiots of ourselves for the second week running and we just did. Most of the players obviously weren't up for it, Tone's not wrong about that, but it says worrying things about the morale and belief in the club if fringe players aren't willing to work their butts off for a place in the Prem starting XI, especially with the window open.

i have backed t.p ever since he has been at OUR club...both times...
but i am beginning to get a little dispondant about his lack of vision and his
inability to alter tatics when we need to..
for all our sakes tony .....please please please accept that you are to blame as much as YOUR
players are to blame and lets all get back to a common objective...
that objective is to get OUR football club playing attractive football and compeating in the
greatest football league in the world, together we can do it...
be ruthless with players and back room staff if that is what it needs to shake those persons up a bit...
the fans/supporters of OUR club want to see this proud football club succeed at the highest
level possible,it will not be easy but remember ....
tell the lads in red and white everything will be all right, you are the pride of all of us today...and everyday.....
and we will always be with you every step along the way...
lets get back to doing the job in a proper way,a bit a of pride, determination and guts...
not a lot to ask for but stoke fans expect every stoke city player to do his duty...
come on stoke city lets all prove them wrong ......

Gunslinger he didn't actually say "I blame the players" but he did say: "once they'd scored, I couldn't see us getting back into it" I guess it's a matter of interpretation. What he DID say was - whatever team you're playing for, once you pull on that striped shirt, then you should give your all. Now, (even allowing for the fact that not every team plays in stripes), he's right that you should never give less than 100% of your ability. However, if the person giving you the instructions doesn't have your respect for whatever reason, then perhaps they're asking more than you're prepared to give. Even if he hasn't lost their respect, he should at least shoulder SOME responsibility for HIS TEAM being turned over by a poor (in league terms) Hartlepool side who lost 4-1 at home last week to Crewe! As has been said previously - many of you quoted the cost of other squads when we got beat easily, including the manger! Well we got beat easily again today by a team costing less than Tonge, let alone Kitson. Where does that leave your argument?

Where does that leave my argument? I really haven't got a clue what your going on about there anarchicalan56, I was just informing Gunslinger what Pulis actually did say, because he said he hadn't heard the interview. Just a couple of quotes from me earlier today: "If Pulis is going to take credit when we beat Arsenal and Villa then he is sure as hell gonna take criticism when we lose to Hartlepool." "I can appreciate people wanting to remain positive, but sheesh this is bordering on delusion.
With the exception of Abd Faye and Higgy, I think Pulis started with the ten strongest outfield players available to him.
We went there to win this game and, erm ... GOT COMPLETELY FUCKED OVER!
It's that simple. "
Cheers

Cheers And I think that is probably the biggest wake up call he needs. He knows this month is a real twat in regards to fixtures and if he has players not willing to put in a shift and let their heads drop against a Division 1 team and that is not disrespecting Hartlepool whom I applaud for their commitment and effort by the way, just how the hell are they going to fair against Liverpool pressure Chelsea pressure and Tottenham pressure. It is a tough one but one he has to endure. He is going to need all of the skills he has obtained during his managment career and what he has learnt so far about the prem to guide us through a bitch of a month.

Sidders - judging by the past few weeks, you could write what he's learned about the premiership in 6 foot letters on the back of a stamp!
As for what he's learned in all his years of management, that can be summed up with two words - Plan A.
I want to be as positive as you, but I can't see what he has in his locker to make me thus.

I think in the next four weeks we're going to find out just how good Pulis is or indeed isn't at this level. January could be the defining month of our season, and possibly be the biggest reflection on Pulis' career to date. He's on a good wedge though!

Blaming anyone or anything rather than take ANY responsibility himself is what annoys me most. I can stand a bloke admitting his limitations and asking for time to improve and bring in the right mix of backroom staff and so on, or even saying he's doing the best he can etc; but simply to NEVER accept any personal fault is beyond arrogant.
