Can't see what the fuss is about.
Played the reserves, got rid of this pointless distraction, gave the first teamers a rest.
Just hope the likes of WBA, Blackburn etc now go on lengthy cup runs, picking up injuries and suspensions as they go.
Sensible approach in my opinion to get out as quick as possible.

Nice point there, but thinking about it logically, Do you really think he went out to lose? No, Pulis you fucking idiot.

Winning breeds confidence, losing so convincingly against hartlepool is a massive defeat.

Yep it would of been good to win today, but hey we didnt. So i'll just look forward to the next match and keep my fingers crossed that we succeed in staying in the Prem, after all this is the only goal for this season.
Yep i feel down just like the rest of you do, but im just going to except today as a very disappointing day and move on.

I think we may see other teams giving this competition precisely the priority it deserves eg those involved in promotion to the Prem or relegation from it.

I agree with the point but we looked to win this, and the players on the pitch are not completely reserves. Lawrence, Kitson, Oli, Shawcross....
Poor performance with only one positive, no more cup games. An awful lot of negatives however.

Today is the best outcome in a way. A win would have shown Tony that his current crop are good enough A defeat through an appalling performance gives him a kick up the backside and hopefully Tony and the staff will pull their fingers out.

I'm sure if we'd got through to the sixth round come late March and picked up injuries and suspensions along the way and our players were knackered come the six-pointers, we'd all be cursing the day we got past Hartlepool.
Who cares about this pointless cup any more. With the exception of last year, no-one other than Chelsea, Lpool, Man U or Arsenal has won it since 1995.
If (and it's a big if I know) we start pushing on come Feb, no-one will give a stuff about this result.

Trouble is we've been saying hopeful;ly for weeks, and "we hope" he doesn't play Cresswell left midfield but he keeps on doing it.

Surely today's result - and the previous 10 games shows you that our squad is so poor that we have no chance of staying up?????????????????

NO, A win today would have told TP than a half 1st team, half 2nd team XI is capable of beating a poor league 1 side. Also would be beneficial when attracting all of these "big" signing we are all hopeing for.

Another metaphorical kick in the gonads is the last thing we needed today. A win was crucial to get us back on track before Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Man City.
Players slapping each other, murmurings of discontent at bizarre team selections, insipid, clueless performances (Man Utd aside, which is easy to get up for)......
Chuck in a loss to a lower league minnow, and things aren't exactly going swimmingly.
It gets tougher and tougher to pick yourself up from the canvas.
I think there'd be murmurings and rumblings of serious discontent at any club in the world in this situation.

I'd say today's result is an irrelevance. Seven changes for a start.
Staying up? Hard struggle ahead yes, we knew that in August didn't we? So why is there so much pant-wetting right now? Do these over the top reactions help?
Christ help us if the reaction on here spreads to the Brit

Job fucking done? Bollocks. Unless the job was getting comfortably beaten by a dog shit side from League One, then you're talking out of your arse.
How can anybody take any positives from a defeat against Hartlepool? Were you also glad we went out of the Carling Cup with a chance of getting to Wembley?
Absolute rubbish. Today is nothing short of embarassing and if our second string can't be fucked to try when they get a chance, maybe I'll do the same and leave it against Liverpool next week. Woeful.
