While I can appreciate the procedure issue, the fact that the decision was correct and that you're still going on about it does not really do your club any justice and just looks like whining regardless of how you try and dress it up. More worrying is when you look at say the Ronaldo and Rooney sending off offences in our recent game with the Shit, that are clearly caught on camera but are then ignored by the F.A. afterwards because the referee "didn't see them." These were things that actually did happen and did go against us and while we aren't very happy about it we aren't going to do anything about it. We all know that referees shouldn't take consultation from the 4th official in making decisions but we all ask that referees display common sense and assess things on their merits and however they came out with the correct ruling Bennett should be applauded and not questioned.

Surely the question here is why do you think the ref isn't allowed to change his mind, he can only award a penalty if he is sure it was a handball, he's seen it, blown for a penalty, consulted his linesman, who says no in my view it didn't it hit the cross bar.
The only mistake the ref has made, is he should have consulted the linesman first, not after he pointed to the spot. None of this , pages and pages of bollocks on messageboards, or hours and hours of tangoman getting his tan on the Tv would have had to have been endured by millions of football fans around the globe, if the ref had just got thinks in the right order. Now we have to endure all this shite.
I'll tell you who the linesman was listening to the advice of, your mysterious "3rd party" , it was William B. Davis, and naturally he had a marlbrough on the go

If we are just looking to moan why has nothing been mentioned about Agbonlahor being offside. Look at this great picture of the lino scratching his ear!! images.sportinglife.com/09/01/330/Steve-Bennett-talks-to-assistant-referee-at-H_1713675.jpg

I agree with Hulls challenge.
We all know the penalty should never have been given but thats by the by! The facts are whenever teams like Hull Stoke Wigan and Blackburn get crap decisions against them we are told they even out over a season.
IF the ref altered his decision because of the lino then thats fair play to them as a team. But IF the ref was influenced because someone alerted him to what had actually happened then that is wrong because video evidence is not used and it is against the rules to use it.
Hull have got every right to complain and I totally agree with their arguement though fankly I think video evidence should be used all the time on major incidents.
The big teams get away with bloody murder in this league for example if our players acted like Gary Neville Wayne Rooney and Christijne Ronaldo we would have been down to eight men WITHOUT ANY QUESTION! Would Wilko (or in the next match Fuller) have been sent off if he was in a ManUre shirt? I feckin doubt it!
Hull deserve the support of all the rest of football on this and we shouldn't laugh at them or ridicule them merely cos they are our rivals. I honestly hope they get some sort of justice from this (though obviously theres no chance of the game being replayed etc)

Does it not make sense that Bennett is talking to him on the side where the ear peice is located so the linesman is moving it to allow him to hear what Bennett is saying to him? I bet you believe in the magic bullet theory as well. "Back and to the left, back and to the left"

AT LAST SOMEONE WHO CAN LOOK BEYOND RIVALRY/BANTER AND SEE THR TRUTH OF THE SITUATION AND WHY WE ARE MAKING A STAND! WELL DONE MATE! ALL I WOULD WANT IS THE TRUTH OF WHAT HAPPENED AND IF IT IS PROVED OUTSIDE INFLUENCES WERE AT LARGE THEN SOMETHING DONE ABOUT IT IN FUTURE. I ALSO AGREE IT'S ABOUT TIME VIDEO EVIDENCE SHOULD BE USED ON MAJOR DECISIONS (LIKE THE AGBONLAHOR OFFSIDE). premiergoals.blogspot.com/2008/12/epl-hull-city-vs-aston-villa-30-dec-08.html

Like i said before the ref IMHO only went over to the linesman to get Barry to move away, the penalty had been awarded, and only then did the ref decide to elaborate with the linesman.IMHO if the ref hadn't had to shift Barry he would not have gone over and the pen would of stood.

I just don't get it?? There hasn't been that many times in 30+ years when I've seen a ref change his mind and on one of the only high profile occasions when a ref does, people start crying like babies.
This doesn't highlight any favouritism for one team and not the other, what it does show, now more than ever, is that technology works and could play an integral part in the modern game.
And on a personal note, who gives a monkeys about Hull, I have much more respect for Villa and their fans. I remember Swanland and Sutton giving it the large one not so long ago and I took the opportunity then to remind them their day will come and it has, so nice one Villa, you have to "hand" it to them ;D

It doesn't matter who you do or don't want to win (I was happy to see the Villa win) but if the ref has used video evidence to reverse a decision then that is wrong even if the outcome was a correct decision. You either have video evidence for everyone ALL the time or for nobody ever! Whether it be Hull or anyone else that suffered as a result of this is irrelevant but it is wrong! If the ref and linesman changed their minds without a third party then thats fair enough and I congratulate them on making the correct decision BUT IF they had there minds changed by someone else that is wrong and deserves investigation. That is all Hull are saying and I agree with them.

Didn't the referee in the World Cup final in 2006 miss the headbutt but sent Zidane off having caught the incident on the big screen?

To be honest Trebor63 I get the point exactly! I simply saw a good opportunity to do a bit of shit slinging because there's been enough coming from Hull fans on our board. Although I am comfortable with my position on this one.
As much as it pains me to say it (only because its Hull), I do accept your point. It is unfair that one team seeks to take advantage of a system that is yet to be introduced. The letter of the law states that ref's decision is final and that means without the help of third eye technology. However, it would have been a far bigger travesty of justice if the penalty was given.

Nice spin Swanland. Face it, this is Brown's spin because he made himself look quite the twat raging against a decision which was, ultimately, 100% right. He cried like a little girl about Fuller's "dive" when we played you at the Brit and said nothing when you were awarded an utterly ludicrous penalty against Boro the following week. Brown's done a great job at Hull, but he's a total hypocrite and a colossal dick. Try to get to grip with the point of the argument otherwise you are the one who looks a dick. I've fully got to grips with the argument thanks. I just don't buy it. It's a convenient smokescreen for another Hull defeat, just like Brown bollocking the players on the pitch at Eastlands was a nifty way of absolving himself of any responsibility for the abortion of a performance that saw them 4-0 down at half time.

FFS if that pen had been given it would have been the wrong decision, full marks to the officialsfor sorting it out I dont give a toss how they managed it, pretty sure the linseman could see that there was no handball

Tango is becoming a LEGEND. He talks more shit than Wenger/Fergy/Mourinho and half a dozen others put together. He'll be trying to convince us it's 2009 next. Bottom line is Bennett thought he saw a handball, Villa players plus plus lino convinced him he didn't. So he rightly changed his mind, justice was done. No conspiracy theory needed Should that be happening in football? Should footballers be in such a position that they can change the outcome of a referee's decision? Right or wrong, it's dangerous and will see more scenes where teams try and surround a referee in order to change a decision. The fact is the referee gave a penalty (wrongly) and the linesman positioned himself ready for the penalty to be taken. All of a sudden, both officials changed their minds from being sure it was a penalty to not being sure. Yes they got the right decision in the end but if we are allowing referees to be influenced by players then we are entering dangerous territory. If you saw a decision in favour of Stoke changed by the protests of the opposition, would you be happy? Of course not. It needs to be stopped. What if the decision had been right and the Villa players managed to persuade Bennett (who is a toss referee anyway) to give the wrong decision?
