Yep. If we've got the 43rd best atmosphere at the Brit, we'd surely have been top 10 at the Vic.

I now have that first pic as my background as that is just about "MY spot" in the Boothen. I can even see my sweet wrappers. ;D

I can even see my sweet wrappers. ;D I used to be right at the back, for those who remember there was a small area at the very back (centre) where the metal bars were 'caged in' by some meshing....used to sit on the bars and use the meshing to keep me from falling off..... happy days.

Cheers scfc75, that'll do nicely as my wallpaper! (the 1st pic). My spot was just on the right of the pic towards the back....
"we're in the middle of the Boothen End!"
I also remember the flag being ripped up but not sure if that's the flag.
Anyone for a "Disco"?

I like the Brittania but there will never be a substitue for the Victoria Ground.

My spot was the back wall, right in the centre, lined up with the penalty spots. (as opposed to the center of the boothen end as it was offset slightly), me n a few mates by one of the roof joist butresses, had a flag we used to hang on the back wall. Loads of people used to swing off the girders when we scored.

I used to stand at the back off the boothen close to a large red box which i think was for the rozzers to stand on. Every time I went to stoke with my mates, that is where we stood. 95% of my Victoria Ground life from 1988-97 was spent there. Wonderful memories...and some shit ones too!!

Stockport.... that's exactly where I stood...I mentioned further up, the box had the barriers surrounding it but they were caged in with red meshing, I used to sit on the bars in front of the 'rozzer box' and use the meshing to rest my legs on for balance. Probably chatted to you at some point, I was a regular from about '89 up to the last game vs. the Baggies Scouse.... not sure where I lifted the pic from, sorry for nicking it was feeling all nostalgic and was browsing the net for old pics. Really do miss the proper Boothen, scary thing is I don't remember a bloody thing about that last game!

I was only a few yards from there myself - behind the block C sign which meant I had to sway either side of it depending on which side of the field the ball was on!
Happy days mainly, as a youth (14-21) when I started to go on my own and discovered beer and football properly, jumping in the car on a Saturday morning with 3-4 mates to travel to places like Mansfield, Bolton, Boro, Sunderland (before all 3 jumped ship), and many other old grounds was a joy - The game wasn't always good, but the atmosphere was special there.
The seasons under Lou were memories I will keep forever - Wembley, Promotion, packed houses, genuine excitement.
I was only a kid when we went down from Div 1 (I was 10), and had been a season ticket holder for 5 years with my grandad (RIP!) in the Butler Street seats, so never really experienced the real glory days of the 70s etc.
Was going to list some favourite games, but am going to start another thread for that!
