Wilkos a good defender but is totally lacking in quality on the ball. Those two tackles he got booked for were ridiculous and unecessary. He 24 now and for me is a mid table Championship player at the very best.

I think Ronaldo got to him with his verbal, as clearly he was giving him some lip, and then the red mist descended for Wilko with that challenge. I think it cost us.

However well he played today, and he had up to that point, it really was a mind numbingly stupid tackle. It was just a blatant swipe at the back of his legs.

I would fine Wilko a weeks wages for his actions. It was not as if Ronaldo was in the box. I did find it more disappointing that Stoke fans clapped him off .

You play Manu at home and go down to 10 men because of a stupid tackle. At least make sure Ronaldo limps off FFS. Ronaldo must have been laughing his bollox off.

Tell you who else cost us the game today. Stoke fans!
After we were promoted, even straight after the game against Leicester, everyone was saying can't wait for Wilko/Dicko break Ronaldo's legs. Well well done boys, he nearly did!
I can imagine the build up to the game with Wilko with his 'Stoke' mates. 'Make sure you DO Ronaldo'. Well he did.
He did play well, to be fair, until then as did all the players. Just watched it again on V+ and the work rate they put in was unbelievable. Lesson learned for Wilko, and also to his 'Stoke' mates around him and fans in general. He even went of clapping and saluting block 10/11 as him he had done them proud by 'snapping' him! Andy Grey and David Platt slated him for that.
Be careful what you wish for and what you demand from players!

i personally thought he was having a very good game apart from the two silly challenges . as for his sending off costing us two points , unless you have a crystal ball and could see the end of the game without his sending off we will never know .
i think we should all just praise the team and backroom staff for the efforts they have made this season ( upto yet ) and wish them a good new year .
now lets be honest who would have settled for a 0-1 result before the game ? who really hand on heart expected to get anything from the game before we kicked off ??

Wilko was my man of the match up to the second booking. I thought his tackling was just exactly how it should be done, with purpose, effective and clinical. The 'second' yellow was a foul (all man, no ball!), and I've no doubt he felt justified. What a game for him today, local lad, playing his heart out for his club and team. I still think he was brilliant, and shit played that wanker on him second half trying to get the second booking. Wilko didn't lose us the game, the lack of respect for the game and the (inefficient) officials doesn't help when you are playing whinging tossers like this shower today.

Wilko had a top game, deserved the yellow to leave the field, wasnt his fault we lost. On Rooney it was right infront of me why he didnt see red for that begs belief, the officials bottled it

Wilko was a complete idiot who cost us the game. As for the fans who stood and applauded whilst blaming the ref, it shows a complete lack of intelligence. Stokies are starting to blame the ref for just about everything that goes wrong.

I think only mikeyb has made the point that TP should have been a bit more aware of what was going on. After about twenty minutes of the game today the referee lost the plot and you got the feeling that we were going to have a player sent off.
With Wilko on a booking and then Ronaldo swapping sides, it really wasn't that much of a surprise to see him go.

I think Wilko did what the majorit of folk in the ground wanted to do, unfortunately it were daft, but i find it hard to pick fault with the fella, call me a tool, call me what you will, but i dunna think you can fault the lad who played with his heart on his sleeve and had a bloody good match

I re-watched the game on skyplus, you could clearly see Ronaldo give Wilkinson some verbals after the challenge where he kicks him, about 3 minute later Wilkinson decides he's going to try to boot him 6 foot in the air, no-one to blame but Wilkinson. I think only mikeyb has made the point that TP should have been a bit more aware of what was going on. After about twenty minutes of the game today the referee lost the plot and you got the feeling that we were going to have a player sent off. Wilko's big mistake was not collapsing like a sack of spuds when Ronaldo stamped at his foot.
If he had behaved like every other player in the Premier League, Ronaldo would not have been on the field to draw the 2nd yellow card.
The really stupid booking was the first one. He had chased and harried Giggs from deep in our half back into theirs and put him in a position where his only real option was to play the ball back to Van Der Sar. At that point he had done his job and there was no need to make the challenge.
If he had used his head in the 1st half, he could have had his one free pop at Ronaldo. As it was, that option was not available and he had to stay on his feet.
Sadly, you could see the 2nd yellow coming when the ball was still 20 yards away.
