It's not the same if you're fat, ginger, have a big nose etc., Racist comments offend not just the victim but also their family, their community and culture.
upsetting Ginger people, from their ginger familys as part of the greater global ginger community and their culture of being afraid of the sun and prone to casual violence and temper.
sorry but it is pretty much the same thing. except that one is socially acceptable.

I had a bloke sitting behind me a couple of season's back who was calling Mama a Black Bastard (and a lot worse) throughout the first half. I turned round and told him that if he didn't stop I would call the stewards and ask them to eject him. He started to argue the case but everyone around me (including the bloke's mate sitting next to him) backed me up and he saw the light and shut up. So give these blokes a (polite) warning that you'll tell the stewards if they don't stop. If they look the sort who would start trouble if you spoke to them then don't speak to them - just go down the gangway and tell a steward that you want them ejected and why and tell them the seat numbers. They don't need to know it was you who shopped them. If the stewards don't do anything, go back and point out that the club has a policy against racism and tell them you will be complaining to the club (and the local media) about their refusal to act and then do it after the game - remembering to keep a note of the seat numbers. Words of wisdom. Do you know, or get a sense of, whether the other fans around you feel the same about these 2 racist gits as you do? Easier for you to confront them, either directly or by reporting to stewards, of you know that there'll be others around you in agreement.

Willie Nelson Suppose you've got the evidence base to back up your contention - do ginger people do less well at school ? Are they more prevalent in the criminal jusice system ? Do they get accused of being terrorists Do they get shit through their letterboxes ? I think not .
But that shouldn't stop you from forming the Ginger Equality Council

Lots of conflicting views expressed following the bbc article . Not sure what you're trying to say here - Don't get me wrong Willie Nelson - I'm against every sort of bullying and harassment and would stand up for people whatever names they got called. Don't see how you work out that what I've said is racist . Look forward to a world free from all that ...we all need to do our bit

thats lucky cos i'm not that sure either. was just trying to balance out the people chomping at the bit to jump on an outrage bandwagon they wont listen to anything except their own opinion.
I think anyone who is crap at school, in prison etc ultimatly have themselves to blame not their colour, Gordon Brown etc.

Last one before I get some sleep and try to stop worrying about the match tomorrow.
People are "crap" at school largely because they're told they're crap and they believe it so don't achieve their potential. Whatever people's colour, faith or background we need to make sure they're encouraged to do well. We all have gifts and talents.
Are you a country and western fan or is that your real name ?

Bit of a tough one this (or maybe not?) and it's been playing on my mind for a few weeks. I've got a couple of Neanderthals sitting behind me each game, season ticket holders obviously. Now aside from them not actually knowing the name of the player on the ball at any one time which is irritating, they are partial to a couple of derogatory terms regarding our black players each game. So far this season I’ve heard nigger a couple of times, coon once a match and black cun| (addressing Mr Fuller as he stepped up to equalise against Hull last week). That said when they called Kitson a “Ginger tosser” I thought, fair play ;D Now, the question is, do I shop the idiots to the club, have a word with them next time I hear it or put up with it for the rest of the season? I do cringe every time I hear the words having a couple of black friends. Saying that it’s just words from the mouths of idiots so should I care? Is it any worse than calling Kitson a “Ginger tosser”? I dunno, I’m in a quandary. Any advice or similar experiences? what block is that of what you are refering to!

To live in a civilised society racism has to be challenged. Racism springs from some very deep animal instincts - the desire of one group of pack animals to assert their superiority over another. Given full reign the consequences are dreadful. The reason civilised society exists is because some people at least have recognised that for the species to survive it has to go beyond its base instincts. The gas chambers were built at Auschwitz not because every German was a Nazi thug but because hatred of the Jews became to be seen as "normal" and the thugs were left to get on with it. The normalization of racist views is the first step along a road well travelled. Help weed it out before it takes root.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Edmund Burke Irish orator, philosopher, & politician (1729 - 1797)

Racism : the belief that a ground such as race, colour, language, religion, nationality or ethnic origin justifies contempt for a person or group of persons Racist bullying / harassment : a range of hurtful behaviour that makes a person feel unwelcome, marginalised, excluded, powerless or worthless because of their colour, ethnicity, culture, faith, nationality. It's not the same if you're fat, ginger, have a big nose etc., Racist comments offend not just the victim but also their family, their community and culture. Passion yes, banter yes, but racism is not funny, it's not clever and it's got to be stamped out. Oatcakeater I'm not suggesting you enter into a philosophical dialogue with the Neanderthals but by doing nothing you condone their comments. Stand up for what you believe in and you will get support from the vast (decent) majority. Look forward to your post after the next match. What a crock of shi.... Let me guess...you work for local government as some sort of "box ticker"and you have simply regurgatated their policy/mission statement/best practice b0ll0cks, word for word, on racial equality... ??? It's because of the sort of garbage you spew out that race crimes magically get priority over other crimes and people's backs get up. Two children suffer long term bullying at school and then go home one day, lock themselves in their bedrooms and hang themselves to death. One has been bullied for being black, the other for having big ears and a big nose. Are they both not equally tragic? And should both root causes not be tackled equally? Not according to your warped rationale!. Why should a racially motivated murder carry a greater sentence than any other planned murder? Surely both murderers should swing from the gallows or serve a life sentence in prison! People like you do more to damage race relations than any right wing headbanger could ever hope to do.
