I'd just like to reiterate at this stage that being a Stoke Fan and expecting a few tonkings at the hands of better teams in the Premier League doesn't make me some kind of cheese eating surrender monkey, but a realist who is aware that we are no longer playing the likes of Plymouth and Burnley every week.

I can't believe this thread is still going!
It is much easier to accept a defeat, particularly away, in this League. I've noticed that I tend to look for positives now, rather than "we've lost, that it, I am going to kill myself".

As I said on another thread, if the players had the same attitude to a defeat as some of the fans we'd be down by Christmas.
Thankfully they don't all have panic attacks.

Sorry I couldn't resist bumping this thread by OS back to the top. He just couldn't have timed this ill-fated anti Pulis rubbish any better. Please do another one immediately after we lose another game. ;D

Alan, thanks for bumping this back up. I take full credit for our two brilliant victories this week. I've no doubt that Coates and Pulis and the players have been directed to this thread and our two brilliant victories are a direct result of that. A bit like the red card thing. Hello Mr Tirtytree. See paragraph above. You can all pay homage to me at your displeasure. I can't lose, you know. Think about it. OS.

Old Stokie You might not be able to lose but you don't half look like a senile, old cuntflap. I hope you enjoyed Olly's sublime finish as the square peg ghosted in from his right hand side round hole.

He is that stupid.
Pulis Hating Wankstainery is the football AIDS for Stoke fans.
It just eats and eats away at you until there is little sense left.
I'm desperate for a cure as I'd hate to lose the likes of OS, winger, grey man and the Oatcake Admin team.

God knows what he has to do to get credit from some.

Our best result in at least a quarter of a century delivered by our best manager in at least 30 years.
I'm sure these facts make threads like this sit somewhere between idiotic and completely fuckwitted!

Be fair lads, we DID commit the crime of the century and lose 3-0 at Manchester City just before the thread started. To a PHW that sort of thing demands both barrels aimed fairly and squarely at Pulis and that is all OS did! ;D A couple of wins on the trot have calmed things down a bit but I am sure that we are all comforted to know that another PHW exocet will be primed and ready to fire if we lose at Wigan or ManU.

I would hardly be surprised if we lost both and I'd be even more surprised if Pulis didn't get a load of shit from the PHWs.

Well, I've somehow managed to keep quiet, despite such a provoking thread and despite having read every post. So I'm now entitled to pull the trigger. My prime reason for the silence is that I believed it too early to make precise judgements, especially as TP (whose tactics and stubbornness I have never liked) surprised, nay shocked, me, by getting us promoted. Magic, it's absurd to say that the several clubs you name have spent less than us, from May - September, without qualifying it. Most haven't needed to spend too much, as they'd already spent on PL players, during previous seasons. And what about Sunderland, who have given Keane (via a £30M share issue, to an American) "only" £30m? Don't forget that Keane had already spent £45 last season! We are doing brilliantly, considering our new-found status and a manager and coaches with no PL experience, between them, which we must sort out, and soon. (Look at Harry's priority in this respect, before he had had more than a few days at Spurs.) OS, I'm sure your brood of lads were all celebrating, on the way out of the Brit, on Saturday. Please don't infect them with your cynicism; Not just yet, anyway. We can do it, not only because we are showing the right attitude, if sometimes undermined by lack of genuine talent, but because there are quite a number of contenders for relegation, this season. (The reason why I'm so often praying for draws, for them, on match days.) It's going to be a long and sometimes painful process which we, as supporters, must suffer stoically and positively. But we can survive and progress. last season, the lads were begged to "Do it for" '''''' all and sundry, including us supporters. Last week, as the criticism mounted, they must have been wanting to ask us to Do It (keep supporting and being positive and patient) For Them. I'm just about to post a complementary supporter thread. So please make sure you all keep it up. Moan on here, if it makes you feel better (and it does ) but keep being the noisiest. We'll kill 'em with sound, at Wigan.

Monica [nice to see you saturday], even I am not affected by my own cynicism. Something these rimmers have yet to understand. Well, some, that is. Hello, Merk. Your new Brammer is ace at falling on the ball. I suppose you'll tell me next that the only thing that counts is the end result. Phhht to all of you. That's all I have to say. Don't sleep easy. I'll be back. You can bet your life on it. OS.

Assuming that's the case (it's certainly plausible that the two are connected) then doesn't the manager deserve credit for bringing him in, just as he would for bringing in an influential player?

My prime reason for the silence is that I believed it too early to make precise judgements, especially as TP (whose tactics and stubbornness I have never liked) surprised, nay shocked, me, by getting us promoted. You needn't really stay silent. What you could say is.......'That despite my inital concens over the manager he's proved me totally wrong. He has made improvements in our league position in every year that he's been at the club, from rock bottom of the championship to a premiership side that no club will fancy playing at the Britannia stadium. Despite having the huge challenge of strenghtening all areas of the side he has managed to do this for a shade under 20 million, more than some clubs pay for one player. These are unique times at Stoke and thanks to a great manager and a supportive chairman we are continuing to make great progress. Monica x ------- Or are you simply going to 'reserve judgement'? until you're really confident that things are going belly up. I remember you telliing people that Steve Cotterill was the best thing since sliced bread when we took him on. Where's he now? I rest my case.

Alan, I await, with interest, your reactions and comments in January when Mr Coates tells us that we are short of funds to strengthen the team. 8.5 million short to be precise. In the meantime, onwards and upwards. Tone is doing well. Jezza. You have aquired a stalker. If ever you see a dilapidated yacht wandering the shallows off Bermuda, contact GD to see who he hired it out to. If it's a Mr Slangking or a Mr Ligiea or a Mr AGSF, you had better get the bandages out. And now to Shakespeare. I need to book two tickets to see Love's Labour's Lost at Stratford. My granddaughter is a Dr Who fan. The clown Costard is brought before the King for breaking his decree.... I hope I'm not Costard. OS.

Mick, I'll be fine if Mr Two Degrees heads for Bermuda, as I haven't lived there for 5 years and the BVI is about a thousand miles south-east! As for the man himself, I have far better things to do with my life than stalking a multi-monikered megalomaniac. On to Tone, he's doin' more than owrate for now. I still wonder about the benefits of a a 5.5mill sub, but hey, that's just me.
