TP has already stated that Davies will need a couple of weeks to get fit. Don't expect him in the starting line up on Saturday!

Griffin is TP's captain. He chose him for the job 'cos he rates him. Do you really think he will be dropped after ONE game?

I think we could do with griffin getting injured and i dont mean it in a bad way.I mean thats what happened at the end of last season and we went up.I dont think he is good enough at all for this league and when villa come down on saturday they will run him all over the show.

Altho it's very unlikely that Griff's gonna get dropped, i think a great replacement would be Stephen Carr who's just been released from Newcastle...a decent player with loads of premierleague experience. He might join given that he's 31 n might not get many more chances...just a thought

Griffin is or was shocking on Saturday, no comittment and seemed lathargic, personally i think the arm band should have been given to Lawrence for the season.

... and he doesn't deserve that. I don't rate him at the moment either but I honestly think he's doing his best and barracking the captain isn't the way to start a backs to the wall season. Remember what we doing to Rory this time last year...

He was our best defender on Saturday,so why is he getting all this abuse? Because as has already been said, he's the latest scapegoat. There has to be one amongst some Stoke fans. Someone they can blame, and abuse. He's not playing the best football of his career, but he's been made captain and we currently don't have a better replacement in TP's opinion. These are probably the same fans that were booing him at Bolton. It doesn't take a sports psychologist to tell you that it's counter-productive to boo your own players. FFS.

He isnt up to this league and pulis needs to see this.Villa have alot of pace and he will get left for dead against them.I understand that he is the captain but what we need is for him to get a knock like the back end of last season.Hopefully this davies will become fit soon and replace griff.

Griffin should be the least of our worries though, at least until we get 2 left footed players into the side. As for people booing the captain of our football club in our 1st game back in the big time, incomprehensible. ???

I didn't hear anyone booing Griff at Bolton. I did hear some booing when Whelan was taken off though.
