First of all - Just like to say, it was my first ever away match travelled via Train and back, and will be my last as well. The day started off well, beers before we hit the train station (We were the lads in Red Wigs! ). We got to Manchester, met up with a group of my brothers mates, and went a few pubs around the place, then we headed to the Station which would then take us to the ground, singing many a song on the way (losing my voice in the process...and it was either I was pissed...or we all were, but we saw the group of Senioritas from Osasuna that were at the Brit last week! ;D ). Got a few funny looks from the "Mancs" and the Johnny Foreigners were taking pictures and Videos of us etc. Obviously got to the game etc - That doesnt really need explaining, First half bit of a shambles last 15 mins or so, second half was much better with Lawrence and Fuller showing what a difference they really do make to the team, Lawrence showing he wanted ALOT more than Rory Delap...he didnt look interested? Why on earth Pulis took Whelan off, I dont know, him and Seyi did well I thought. Seyi especially. Then as per the norm, Stoke fans kicked off and I just saw a whole horde of big lads head towards the Bolton fans throwing anything and everything? Didnt see it all though? What happend..!? After the game was the good bit... We left the ground, headed towards the train station where we met by police...police horses, police dogs, police vans, shuffling us along to one side of the road and in a que for the station, with Bolton fans the other side. When they had got the majority of us, everything was fine, then we turned around after hearing a few "WERE STOKE WERE STOKE WERE STOKE!! in the distance" - to see a group of Stokies having a running battle with the police ;D, I think they were fine until they walked past the Harvester where the Bolton Fans were drinking, then must of had some abuse. Thats basically when I thought...the Police are gonna be complete and utter ***** with us now. And they did EXACTLY that. We got on the Train back to Manchester packed full of a couple of hundred of Stokies. We thought we were going to get back to Manchester, get off, walk to Piccadilly then onto the train to Stoke, no problems, no fuss. But the police had other ideas. We got off the train at one of the stations in Manchester(cant remember the name of it now) and straight away, we were surrounded by Police, literally forcing us to stay in one spot, all keeping us together and keeping us back. They kept us back for around 20 minutes. Then eventually when they got there act together and had sorted the Frogmarch out, we proceeded through the Station, and onto the Tram. Obviously we wernt best pleased, as some were bosting for a piss, and most of us needed a drink of some sort, so we made alot of noise and madesure we wernt happy. The tram then took us, quite literally, smack bang in the middle of Manchester, full of people. They then got us off the tram, and kept us in the same spot for a good 15 minutes, while we were being pissed on by the train. We had to wait for the Police vans and the likes to get to us, so we could be escorted through Manchester. While we were waiting, the public were gatherd around us, and taking pictures of us singing songs and giving the Police abuse. Some funny songs to the police, 1 of which was "It could of all been avoided ! ALL BEEN AVOOOOIDED, IT COULD OF ALL BEEN AVOIDED" There was a alot of ... "Whos that dying on the runnnnnway? Whos that dying in the Snowww?" song Then all the Stoke songs we could think of... In the Middle of Manchester singing them, I thought were gonna get murderd here, but we all carried on singing. Eventually when the police decided they could securely start taking us on the nice 20 minute walk to Piccadilly station, we left with them all surrounding us, and I also noticed a few "Special" Coppers. They looked mean fuckers, and they had mean looking Dogs. One bloke I remember was at the front of the March, decided to give him some abuse, and the guy wasnt impressed, one of the other coppers literally, had to get between them to shut them both up ! ;D If anyone walked out of line, we got pushed straight back in..(me being guilty of it a few times) I then jokingly asked the Copper could I lend his Coat as I was piss wet through, to which I got a reply... shut the fuck up and get back in line. ;D I just laughed and said Orate!!! As we were walking through, we had to keep stopping to keep us all together, then wait for pubs to shut there doors while we were coming past singing Anti Man United everything..especially the Run way song. As we went past one pub, a Stokie was in the window giving us the thumbs up and the likes, then next thing he disapeared, then re-appeared on his arse out the front door... ;D ;D then he joined the group. That was fair funny. We then finally made Piccadilly station, where once inside, we stopped to get everyone in and "organised". While we were waiting, I asked a copper why we were being treated like Shit, to which he responded "the rest of your fans have been mis-behaving all over town" - I asked where? he said Bolton train station got smashed up and a few other places. I said, well do any of us look like Hooligans? As the song went...it could off all been avoided. He then basically just said Fuck off. We walked through the Station, and then all got cramed onto the train back home at roughly about 7:30pm. It had taken 2 hours or so from Bolton - just to get to Piccadilly. I eventually got home about 8:30. Not best pleased, and if thats how were gonna get treated because we travelled via train, then Fuck that right off in the future. Day to remember though I guess.

Ohh ahh. Terrible antics that were - Coming off the Train dying for a drink and then being shuved through Manchester. As for the songs, what the Fuck do you expect? To stay quiet and walk in an orderly fashion?
Fuck that right off.

We were on that train, It was going to Victoria so we got off half way there and waited for the Piccadilly train. We knew that if we went to Victoria you then had to get the tram to Piccadilly so better to wait for the next train. It was a lot of arseing around though.

Ben2004: I have just wasted 3 mins of my life reading that rubbish.
Disgraceful that the Munich songs were sung, probably 95% of the people singing them, don't understand what happened at the airport that day.
Onlookers must have been thinking that is what the majority of our away support is like. Idiots bringing the club down springs to mind.

TBH being wrapped up is par for the course, especially if you act up , or let it happen..over the years you learn it's possible to do your own thing the majority of times if you want..if you want is the important point
Conversly chanting in a city centre is seen as an old trick to get wrapped up safe and sound when you need to
Obviously coming from Liverpool , slightly different for me yesterday, but my route still covered those available to others, had the choice of via Wigan->Bolton->Horwich or Manc land->Bolton/Horwich
After the game went back with the bolton fans back to Bolton, then onto wigan ...handful of Stoke on the train all no colours , no probs...ok you have to keep your gob shut and if sussed even at 49 I'd expect at least a slap , but beats being a sheep any day of year
As for the Munch song, started in the queue at horwich , believe me if sung in Manc land it'll also have been noted , before you posted on here....
But a request ...leave it out eh...you can tell me f off, it's only banter..tho if you do you aint got a clue mate , you really haven't.You're playing with fire and seem to lack the years and experience of what you'll bring on top of you...or more importantly your fellow supporters , especially those unlike you who will continue to travel by train this season.

Ian, there was a group of us, and we all felt like we were a herd of Cattle. No joke.
Nobody could believe what was going on, the songs were sung by the Idiots at the rear of the group in Manchester, and basically, everyone joined in, majority of us new it was wrong, including myself... Not saying that was hilarious, I said above that the songs aimed at the Police was the funny bit.
No that picture is actually 2 other lads who I travelled with, I was on the front row with my Auntie. I had the "naked butt" shorts on ;D

Congratulations Ben, I hope you're all very proud...
Did it not occur to you that the police might have saved you from some serious mither if the advance party had been tearing the place up ahead of you?
When some of our innocents get slapped at Old Trafford and City of Manchester Stadium we'll know why.
Thanks...

Sorry - Got caught up in trying to type it all out - Edited for you Ian, came across wrong.
Ruts
We would of been fine as we were, we were all quiet and down after the game, nobody was looking for myther, nobody was looking for trouble.
The police riled everyone up by pushing us back when we got off the train in Manchester and forcing us to stay in one position. When we got moving, we got kept in a narrow line, constantly pushed back in if we stepped to far, people were being chucked over on the floor.
Police saved us from what? There was no Fcuker in Manchester, we could of walked straight through, Tops on, staying quiet (as we already were) and we wouldent of had any abuse. Simple as!

I am not sure - the police treat all Stokies the same, we got pulled of a tram last year at Sheffield Wednesday and was kept next to a pub for a good 50 mins or so, me and my dad were the first fans they let go - but included was a 86 year old man and a pregnent woman. She wanted go toilet and they wouldnt let her, eventully a copper had to go with her. This is the only time i have been treated like this, yes there are trouble makers most of our fans are good and have gone out for a few beers and a good game of football - but the police just intend on making us have a bad day. As for you Ben it sounds like you got mixed up with a bad crowd, as i did at Sheffield(on the same tram) dont let it get to you as it may be a one off as i Sheffield as the only one i have seen(been involved in) i have travelled to half my away games by train. I just want to say how fantastic all our support was yesterday it was amazing

What got me when we were waitin for train at about 5.15-5.30ish is the one that came 1st was not goin to picc it was goin victoria but the transport police did not say anything and most stoke fans got on, is this the train that was stopped and everyone herded through manc? we waited for the 6.05 to picc straight onto stoke train and a lot of wet stoke fans were gettin on, also say a bit of mither at bolton station some mouthy bolton fans got off train started bangin on the windows and asking some stokies to come and have a go, needless to say they did.

I think you were all a bunch of no brain cunts. That has really cracked the season off well for us. I feel sorry for all the well behaved away fans, you have set the stall out for them now in other police areas. People have the gaul to try and get the club to abandon the ID card. If this behaviour goes on,I can see tighter restrictions being made on all away supporters. Well done you brainless numpty.

Sounds to me like the police did you and your mates a favour, young Ben. And you at least learnt a lesson that will stand you in good stead for decision-making about future travel to away matches. Also, take note of the response from fellow supporters in this thread. We all see things differently, and I'm with potters11 on this one. I got seriously peed off yesterday with my fellow supporters who spent much of the second half standing up, gesticulating to the Bolton fans on our right, who were having a bit of banter after our team fell apart in the first half. "You're not very good, you're not very good...". Ooh, it was so hurtful! What possesses people to stand up giving it large from 100 yards, with 'come ons' and wanker signs? Let's go to these places, get behind the team, and take disappointments like yesterday on the chin. This small town mentality belongs both to the lower divisions and to a bygone time.

I used to think all that kind of stuff was exciting as well at away games...when I was about 15.
Behaving like a knob head is more excusable when you're young and daft, but then if Ben2004 think it's worth proudly recounting such bog-standard mild away day naughtiness then it's excusable for other folk to point out how retarded it all is.
I'll admit that I was a complete knobhead when I was 15. Ben2004, it's for your own good that I tell you this, but reading all that guff, you are clearly also a knobhead.

i went on the train caught 9.35 to manc then 1.30 train to horwich, the whole day started off great, i admit i got a bit too drunk tho and acted a bit of a nob! i was singing like with the rest, avoided the busby boys one, ill admit ive sung this before but now got a better understanding about the song, and avoid this. didnt realise any of the problems after the game though! all news to me, left early and got first train back, when they shut the gates and we had to wait, got off at deansgate (perhaps thats why i didnt see any problems) went few pubs then caught train about 7.45 was in the house just after half 8, enjoyed the day, but also know for meself, stop overdoing it on the drink!!
as trouserdog says, its amazing when you think back to when you were younger, like 15-18 you seem to think you can give anybody jip and be cheeky to the police and they wont do anything, but it just aint like that!
