Many people are treating this board in the way the old one became.
Too many little threads about about every small detail of games.
Eg, Griff, Fuller, TP's tactics, Shawcross, fluky goal, wilko, dicko, just back, my view, let's support the lads, what do we need to do?, Mama, Whelan, fullbacks, defence, Pulis on radio, Match of the Day, Kitson, Sorensen, don't panic, etc, etc, etc, etc.
Not just these umpteen threads but umpteen repeats of them too.
Every single one of these topics could been under one sensibly named thread such as 'Bolton Game Comments.'
Add your comments to the same thread, goddamit.
I know it's a nightmare for admin but maybe some people will only start to get the point if threads about the game (unless it is way off message) not included in the main one are deleted.
It's becoming more and more of a ballache to trawl through this board as it is and great comments are lost onto page 3 or 4 way too soon. The first game in the Premier seems to have made this worst than ever.
Plus which thread do I add my comments about the game to??? Or maybe I should just copy and paste them onto a hundred different ones?? Maybe this is why so many new threads are opened.
Go to the West Brum board and you'll see a thread called 'Anything Stoke'. We get 50+ threads on Dull. I know how many I'd prefer.
Maybe the only result of this will be a smiting - really couldn't give a toss. But I'm hoping there's still some sensible folk on here.

Excellent point and one the mods all agree with.
We have been trying to guide people this way but it is difficult and you would not believe the abuse that we get when we enforce what you suggest.
However we intend to enforce that approach and strengthen the mod team up to help.

Admittedly it would be a bit easier if people gave subject headings that reflected the actual thread In an ideal world it would be nice to have a logical and ordered board but remember a lot of people were very emotionally after the Bolton game, which is natural. Personally I waited until today to post and I was seeing the world in a less emotional way. Just wading through the threads now to try and calm people down

Unfortunately some attention seekers will always want to start their own threads, banning arseholes like oracle/orifice would help.

Exalt. I know I'm biased, but I think that WestBrom.com is one of the best-run, and easy to navigate boards around. This on the otherhand, is a little reckless. I still enjoy coming on here to read people's views, but it would be a lot easier to keep track of things, if it was more like WestBrom.com

Great point starkiller
I have ploughed through nearly 4 pages this morning as I do like to read every thread, and things are repeated over and over again under different sub headings - it would make life a lot easier

It is the one thing which drives me about this place. Possters don't want to contribute to threads, they just want to start their own and too many pointless little threads end up cluttering the whole place up. As Mark has already said though, the grief we get when we try to tidy up and make people use threads which already exist is quite frightening.

Totally agree with this, there is far to many topics on this board.
i have family who are vale fans, so i check OVF now and again to keep up to date with fresh banter. OVF may be full of T**ts, but it is a well organised and tidy forum.

Griff needs replacing. Fuller should start. TP's tactics were wrong yesterday. Shawcross was poor! God, their first goal was lucky. Wilko and Dicko...good enough? Just back, from shopping. We need to support the lads I reckon. Mama...a joke! PULIS ON THE RADIO NOW! Match of the Day on NOW! Kitson on Match of the Day NOW! Sorensen - good enough?! But most of all, let's not panic.

One thing to keep in mind regarding this subject.
The people who can change it are the people who use it.
It can't be that difficult for people to fight the urge to start fresh threads on subjects that are being debated already, can it?

Why not impose some kind of 2 threads maximum per subject Mark?
It'd make people think before posting new threads.

if we had a tickets and travel section, and other clubs section then it would run smooth, someone pointed this out few months back, but it got ignored

Yep that's another good suggestion dnl.
OneValeFan is better sectioned than The Oatcake, and the debate is usually better as a result.
It's easy to moan at people, but admin should do something about it.

The admins moan but dont listen to suggestions, therefore the board will carry on getting clogged up with shit, and running slower.

The admins moan but dont listen to suggestions, therefore the board will carry on getting clogged up with shit, and running slower. The admins moan at people posting threads on subjects for which threads already exist. We can have 147 boards but it won't matter if people keep on doing that. You don't need too many different boards just for people to stop making the same threads over and over and over and over again!

It would have been easier if it was as the old Rivals site, possible to ad a heading of your own to show what you write and that it is related to the main thread name.

People cant be bothered to scroll down the board see if its covered thats why, if you had other clubs section, then this would not happen as it would be spotted easier, same goes for a ticket and travel section, saves keep scrolling through pages, then people putting up stuff asking the same question again.

lets face it this board gets very busy threads are made all the time dropping down other threads, with a board this busy, would make sense to have travel and ticket section, and a other clubs section where you can post scores and transfer news.

People cant be bothered.... That's an attitude you can't fight against unfortunately. New threads are often started when an almost identical one is sat right at the top of the board... as had been witnessed today by repeated updates of the Chelsea and Villa scores.

If it were my forum the catogry page would be like this
Stoke City talk ____________________________
General Chat ____________________________
Travel and Match Tickets ____________________________
Other teams section

If it were my forum the catogry page would be like this Stoke City talk ____________________________ General Chat ____________________________ Travel and Match Tickets ____________________________ Other teams section But it doesn't matter how many boards you have if nobody can be bothered to check if a subject has already been covered before starting their own thread. Eventually each page will fill up and you're left with the same "can't be bothered" attitude. One of the main reasons OVF doesn't suffer as badly is because it doesn't have anywhere near as many posters as we do and so less new threads are started anyway.

It will fill up alot less quicker though, and make your job easier and the posters easier, this section is used for everything, thats why the same old stuff gets posted, its up to you how you run it, but thats how i would do it, and i am sure there are many people on here would agree.

Exactly...more sections = a better spread of posts across the message boards.
I'd implement a rule where it's 2 messages maximum per subject.
