I'd implement a rule where it's 2 messages maximum per subject. That rule already exists, except that we try for one thread per subject. That's why so many posts get removed and people are complaining all the time about having their threads deleted.

Oh right fair enough Smudge...I didn't realise.
Is there a message board rules and regulations bit for everyone to look at?

Is there a message board rules and regulations bit for everyone to look at? Nope, common sense and good manners covers it all.

There are too many threads but thats down to the the small number of mods......They cant all be on all the time to delete/move threads...The good thing with fewer mods is you know who to moan at ;D, the downside is that the board gets cluttered up.....The solution is for people to actually read the board before posting

The only way to stop this is to sticky a rules thread at the top of the board. And say in that thread that if the rules aren't adhered to then you get a warning, and then a 5 day suspension ... or whatever.
At the minute the amount of threads is ridiculous, and it will only start to turn people away.

Message to the thread deleter.
If you are serious about encouraging more people to use this site.
Dont delete threads, if people make the time an effort to post sensible thoughts that they wish to share with fellow Stokies then who on earth are you to deny them?

... then who on earth are you to deny them? ...er, the people who own the site? In all seriousness though, it's not a free-for-all on here or you just get anarchy. If you've had threads deleted today it's because they are repeats of ones already prominent on the site. This thread itself is a complaint about there being too many posts.

I've been guilty of starting a thread, only to then find out that there's an existing thread on the same subject. However, unless you have the time & patience to trawl through the first 2 or 3 pages, is is difficult sometimes not to. Even if you do check first, there's no guarantee that you'll realise that someone's already started a thread on the same subject if they've used ambigious subject title. A bit of a vicious circle. ???
One suggestion - How about if the person starting a thread was able to move it to the Wheel Storage Bin if they then realise they're duplicating an existing post? The ability to self-wheel?

Why is it so hard for posters to comply with checking out the board before starting a thread that as already been covered ? . Why do posters throw their toys out of the pram when their threads are removed ? .

I'd have sympathy with anyone who has well thought out threads deleted but the way things are currently your comments will be lost down pages anyway, long before anyone has had chance to read them. It's not all down to admin to sort this out but posters. We need to get a grip of it. It's not beyond doing to have a thread for Bolton Comments, a thread for Transfer News, etc. Even a thread for Pulis, for Griffin, for What need to do to survive, for Media Coverage, etc. Posters to title their threads simply and accurately and, unless it's a totally different topic, the rest of us to post on them.

Something needs sorting. I started having a look at the MB over the weekend, then gave up.
Nothing gets me goat more than new threads started just because someone has scored, be it Stoke or whoever Vale are playing, or Dull. The rush of people trying to be the one breaking the news means they all do it at the same time, going for the 'glory'. How tedious is it to wade through 8 threads all called "1-0" or "Bolton Scored" which are read by 5 people? My solution would be to start a 'Soccer Saturday' style area for people to post latest scores, half times, results, sendings off, and comment on stuff like that, and not use the discussion topic areas of the board.
Also the problem moving forward is that if the discussion element of the board is over-policed, then it loses something of it's originality. There was a time a month or so back when you couldn't say anything marginally critical of anything without ending up in the merde bin. It's a tricky task for a supporter of someone other than Stoke (and don't give me the "use your own board" wank), but I suppose it's up to the administrators to cast their eye over things without it going to their head and deleting things that they simply don't agree with.

Hurrah for Prong, always like to see him post. Have some Karma. Hard to say what to do for the best, but I like the idea of a matchday folder, on a monday morning, I like to see the views of people at the game "just got back" type ones, the official matchday thread" and Ilfords collection of press write-ups that he is usually kind enough to collate and save the rest of us the bother. I am sure that many of us do the same. The problem is that Smudge and Dave and the others have lives to live, and they have to be able to trust that rational adults can use the boards sensibly without having their hands held. They certainly shouldnt get a load of abuse. It is annoying when you have poured time and effort into a post and have it deleted, perhaps a limbo section would be better so if you got a post limbo-ed that you feel strongly about, you can at least copy it out and look for the "original" thread and re-post it? If it isnt worth that effort, then the decision to delete it was correct. And perhaps the Shit Bin can be renamed? Its a little harsh if a genuine post is deemed as "shit", makes me sad to think of it.. sniff.

Its Quite rare that i make a new thread really. However i saw a prime example of this on Saturday. I know that people are excited that we are now in the premiership but some people dont seem to think. As is routune someone will start an official Match Day thread which i will comment in before during or after the game. On Saturday i came on during the match to see a thread started 1-0, Then someone created a whole new thread 2-0, Then a 3-0, Then there was a thread will this be a thrashing. On this score id say as rightly so most people will. it just the odd few that dont. Matchday thread Matchday comments. Thats me done with
