that Whelan could be on the move to Plymouth just been on team talk and a plymouth fan has posted a comment that theres rumour that hes on his way and have been checking through all plymouths sites and a few believe he is on the way.
Could be the reason why he didnt play tonight. Hope its all bull shit as I really cant see why he would get sold as hes got the potential to step up to the prem and having only signed in Jan would of thought he wouldnt of been going anywhere
Oh also Parkins beinglinked with a move down there to

There was a few stories going around at the backend of last season that a player said signing for us was the biggest mistake of his career so who knows.

I would have thought Whelan was one of the few who could rise to the challenge of the Prem.

Sadly I could see this happening, he isn't playing, Daddies boy is and I don't think its so we can sell Pulis Jnr. However, Sturrock put Whelan on the transfer list at Wednesday.

I can't see it happing TBH. he's had what 6 months in a promotion winning team. He will want to play in the prem, that's why he came to us. Every single member of the squad will want to be in our team come 16.08.08. We are 1 of 20 teams in the best league in the world. If that's on your C.V you will get a contract anywhere in the world.

4eva i think it was one of those lazy reporters who did nothing but slate us in the run in to the end of the season and as whelan was the last signing it sort of pointed to him. This of course was someone spouting off but i think its the Guy who we were all emailing after a few bullshit comments.

Squeekster got a link to the article?
Bayern only posted this because Whelan didnt play and i saw the link on team talk and with plymouth not being to far away from southampton it aint to far for him to drive down have a chat and be back in time for when the players return tommorrow

on the plymouth board they seem to think if we get 2 more midfielders in then he will be allowed to leave, i dont think we will get another 2 in now especially now rudi aint signing

Bayern i agree and id be very worried if Pulis actually let him go as like you've said on their board he's probably our best CM and has got bags and bags of potential. him and Seyi right now have got to be our number 1 option in the middle.
Although if this goes through then maybe Pulis will be signing Walters to play on the right and push Lawrence in to the centre where hes supposed to play his best football.
Really worried right now

I can't see it happening but like I've said on Pasoti Pulis does make decisions that are sometimes very baffling. So it's certainly within his mantra to do it.

Also it seems Pulis did an interview with their local rag where he said he would help Plymouth out with some players. Parkin would be agood bit of help along with Jnr and Buxton Tone! Not Glenn Whelan!

Total bollocks
Lets see: Whelan joins stoke and within 6 monts wins promotion to the PL and gets 2 full Eire caps but thinks it was a bad career move to come here. So going to Plymuff will really drive his career forward wont it.

Also had to the speculation. Didnt Coates say on Radio Stoke earlier today that some players will be leaving before the season starts. I just hope its not Whelan.

I can't see it for one second.
I haven't been particularly convinced about Whelan, but he must be on bloody good money here and Plymouth are definitely one club in the Championship who couldn't get near the kind of £ he'll be on, especially if he had a clause giving him a rise on promotion.
There are loads we need to move on before him, and I can't see us being desperate for £750,000 or to make the saving on the wage bill with the squad being as paper-thin as it is.

also why would any player such as Whelan who has got the potential to play really well this season with us and earn a move to a more established club in the Prem and also cement a place in ROI squad want to go to a club like Plymouth, who quite frankly arent even half the size of us and tommorrow will shell out 750k for Walton which will be a tenth of there yearly revenue. he could do way better than plymouth if he were to leave us.
Fullermagic he apparntly didnt sign for them in Jan as he wanted 10k and that is the highest they would ever go

I heard he was on 10k a week with us plus 10k win bonus.
But the facts are there-he didn't play tonight, Coates' comment and the Pasoti lot only trust their reliable posters like we do on here.
I can't see why we'd sell Whelan but something smells fishy!

i agree bayern something smells fishy if coates hadnt of said today that players would be leaving it wouldnt of bothered me as much. But it begs the point why Plymouth?(if it is plymouth hes off to) as its a very strange career move because for someone who has just got 2 full caps with his national side and looks certain to be first choice for us this season along with Seyi you wouldnt think they would then go and drop down a divison to a club tipped to really struggle this season who are only half the size of us

What has worried me more is that he didn't play tonight despite seeming fit enough to make the bench. It's odd. Of course he could have pulled something but why have him on the bench and then not play him?

I just enjoyed the way they are talking about singing Stoke players when they have done no research into our squad.
Quote 1: Stoke have been buying like nobody's business in the last few weeks.
Quote 2: A Luggy style of player. ( Whelan .. really?)
Quote 3: A big, brute of a battering ram (Parkin .. Fairy in a size 18 shoes more like)

Yeah, it is a slightly more interesting rumour thread than most, given that that the people saying it'll happen seem to be people who the rest of their board seem to think are pretty reliable - and the mention in the local paper about the Premier midfielder.
Time will tell. It would register pretty damn high on the shockometer though.
Pretty odd that he was the only one of our squad not to get his arse off the bench tonight. That's just plain weird in the circumstances.
Overall, I still think there's too many factors weighing against it to make it particularly believable, but never say never.
