One line from the Daily Mail and all of a sudden he's not coming. Journo has probably just written that line to get us all talking about the paper. Get a grip!!

Not bothered if he doesnt come i dont think a 22 year old inexperienced keeper is what we need for a relegation struggle, i am bothered though about what it will say in terms of us signing other quality players, i feel Carson would have been the catalyst for other players to come in.

I reckon he'll go to WBA.
Why would he choose us over them, given our reputation in the Prem?

It could be that the Mail 'reporter' has just put his own twist on the West Midlands' local rag's report - it wouldn't be the first time a National has done that!
Whatever the outcome, I really hope that people manage to maintain a bit of perspective and realism. As has been mentioned, it's the profile of this transfer (and its potential breakdown) that will be the issue - it's in the full media glare. But I guess that comes with the territory when you court such players.

salifdiao did you not come in to contact with Carson during your time at Liverpool? Surely you should be putting in a good word for Stoke!!

are we all resigned to to the fact he isnt come to us then? no not resigned to it yet, although I feel like I've been kicked in the bollocks! What a good signing he would be for lots of reasons, I just hope TP sold the club to him good style. I'm certainly still hopeful...................but wary the Mail may know something we don't!

i think he'll come to us - i just think he'll insist in a get out clause in his contract saying he can move on if we go down

This board is great. 2 hours ago, Carson was going to be one of our greatest ever signings and help attract other quality players to the club, now because of one newspaper article we don't want Carson, he's over rated and over priced and we want Fulop again!!!!
Lets just wait until tomorrow, I guess by lunchtime we should know if hes signing for us or not. If he doesn't lets not start slagging off the club, they shown some real intent here, this is the quality of player we want to attract

Agreed, even if he doesn't sign there are positive indications that we are trying to get decent players and pay the going rate.

Still no news on Sky sports News though... If a bid had been accepted, surely they'd have made a fuss over it?
if not then my confidence in SSN plummets...

If you think about it, Carson has probably been living in Birmingham for the last season while on loan at the Villa. He will have made mates there. If he goes to West Brom, he can remain in Birmingham. Where would you rather live if you had no ties to Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham or Stoke? he'll have had a pad near liverpool for 5 years or however long he has been there, and he can commute easily to us from there , and thus avoid having to live anywhere near West bromwich and their fans
