Southampton did it yesterday but its kind of what they do.
Ourselves, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Brentford are more red and white stripe purists I think.
Although I can think of a couple of occasions where we have gone off piste.
Who could forget the 'red-backs' in our FA Cup final season or the unlamented 'pin-stripe' arrangement in the 1984 holocaust season but mostly we stick to the script.

Southampton did it yesterday and many times before. Ourselves, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Brentford pretty much red and white stripe purists? We did the red backs in our FA Cup final season and the pin-stripe arrangement in the 1984 holocaust season but mostly we stick to the script. I don't care as long as they don't keep the horrendous yellow and blue (Arsenal Away top of the 70's) as the 3rd choice away top. I'd prefer us to use an all white away strip

I personally loved the all red back shirt and it was one of our greatest ever teams playing in it.

I thought we were supposed to be fucking them off after this season but apparently not anymore. A new kit deal was allegedly still being negotiated a month or so back (suspected to be with Macron) but still no official announcement or confirmation has been made yet.. Guessing something will be forthcoming in the next week or so. Seems as though majority of the existing Macron 23/24 kit and training wear has been sold off at greatly reduced prices.

The good thing about macron is they give us bespoke kits and have definitely delved in to the heritage of the city, classic retro kits etc and they’re released and on the shelves a lot earlier than 90% of other clubs.
They have been synonymous with a shit period for the club though
I think it’s time for a change but I wouldn’t want to be served an identikit off the shelf number like adidas used to.
We need a manufacturer that actually cares like macron have done.

Just avoid pinstripes and the stupidly thin stripes we've had this season.
Coupled with the clear and obvious Macron curse that hangs over us, this year's candy striped debacle almost saw us into the third tier.
Nice, fat stripes please Lord Macron. No more p*****g about please...

The strip with the red back season was probably our most successful season since 1975. Our big fat stripes of the macari era were quite good as well. Possibly traditional red/white stripes are not the beast for us?

I really like the shirts like that. It’s still within the realms of tradition but a bit different. I think like the current blue away kit you’d have an opinion split based on age.

Didn’t most of our away wins this season come in the yellow and blue strip. Does anyone have the stats? Yep, four out of the seven. It’s definitely been used more than the blue one though, even though the blue one is officially the away kit and yellow is third kit.

I wonder if we've reached the stage where the annual change of strips is now becoming counter-productive to sales.
Daughter's 18. She'd much rather buy a classic retro top as they don't really age, whereas a new current top looks out of date within a year. If they only cost a tenner that would be fine, but they don't, do they.
Last years second strip - white with the diagonal sash, was superb, but how many more people might have bought it if they knew the club were keeping it in action for two or three years?

I brought this style at the Kit Design meeting, which maybe one of the options to choose?

I commented to my daughter how glad I am that we haven't done what S'ton have. I think it looks awful. I blamed the holocaust season ( in which we only won 3 games and despite seeing us about 38/40 times that season I missed all 3 for different reasons - a family xmas stopped me seeing the boxing day win over Man U which hurt ! ) on that awful shirt. Credit to the club for holding the consultation meeting on the design of the 25/26 shirt. I found it a more interesting and complex topic than I expected it to be.

Malcolm, I saw all 3 of our wins that holocaust season which were against Man United and Arsenal (not too shabby!) and Sheffield Wednesday who were a serious outfit themselves at that time. Just a shame about all the other matches that season!

I don't think Southampton have the same attachment to the plain red and white striped shirt like we do. If you look at the history of their kits certainly since the mid 70's they've had just as many kits that aren't traditional red and white stripes than those that are.......
