I'd prefer permanent too. But not sure why he'd be reluctant to come back. He needs to play football. It would be a bit of a comedown for him I’d have thought. Maybe he’ll go back to Scotland. Self contradiction if ever there were one.

Ben Brereton Diaz anybody? his stock will have fallen after an odd season for him. But he’s out of our reach you would have thought?

It's not silly money when they are able to get it, it's realistic. Didn't we get silly money for Souttar who has played 12 games in 2 seasons for Leicester. And one of those seasons they were in the Championship. That's what good managers do. They make players look better than they actually are, by playing to their strengths. With Gayle,Wesley and Clark (all on big money) all off the wage bill next season we should have plenty of room to manoeuvre. Don't forget MON spent no money at all in his last window, so surely our FFP situation must have improved even more this June. McAnthony is very good at the brinksmanship of negotiating high fees for his players. Not sure I'd be going there unless he's got a proven goalscorer up his sleeve somewhere other than Clarke-Harris who's a proven donkey at this level.

If we want an older, experienced player, I’d be looking in the direction of Danny Welbeck myself. Johannson or Iverson in for keeper position Toffolo left back Tom Cairney for midfield Danny welbeck Too ambitious? toffollo would be perfect . I’d imagine welbeck has done enough for a new deal at BHA. Cairney- good shout and can’t be happy with the game time he gets at Fulham… little bit too ambitious in our current state.

Far too good a return to move to a relegation battle in the Championship

Toffolo's a great full back but he'll be 29 by the season starts. Not sure we need the baggage that came with his gambling issues either. Harrison Burrows is only 22, and in my opinion is the better player. If Peterborough don't go up, we really have to get in there because I think he'd thrive under Schuey's style.

We need to get real.
Wellbeck and Cairney wouldn’t even consider us, even if we could get near the wages they command. Which I highly doubt.
We need more like Junior, Bae, Burger and Million.
Young, hungry, talented, and with potential to make a profit.

For me, I’d like to see us try to tempt an experienced central defender down from the Premier League if it’s at all possible. A bit like Villa did with Terry, or Birmingham with Steve Bruce back in the day. A leader who’s best days are behind him but still fit enough and hungry enough to drop down and do us a job for a year or two.

We need to discuss who we don’t sign to, signing the wrong players is our biggest issue.

A lot depends on if we move any on, ie Mmaee, Vidigal, Johnson etc. we need a better striker, a left back, goalkeeper and a CB as a minimum. I worry that signing loads again will dilute the quality, and take time to gel.

I'm taking:
CB -Coady (J.Cooper option 2) Loan IF - Dolan free ST - Gallagher free CM - Mowatt free CDM - McNair (CB cover and 6) free CB - Creswell 2.5m LB - Burrows (Byram option 2) free
That will give us a good base of British/League experience.
After that Dublin can load up his Football manager porn and scatter it with some K and J league filth.
Keeping in the squad to play:
Million Burger Baee Tchmaedau.
Laurent and Baker would be sold and x2 CMs signed.
A good keeper an absolute priority.

Not massive names but someone who we can make captain and head up a real challenge.

I worry that signing loads again will dilute the quality, and take time to gel. You're adding to players who've already acclimatised to the league and bedded into the team and are familiar with one another. We should make a handful of high potential singings every year. When they haven't got to be an integral part of the starting 11 from the off in the hope that at least one of them turns out to be a gem. Despite our horrific season we'd do well to unearth as many as we did this season. I'd consider Junho, Burger and quite possibly Junior and Manhoef to be gems unearthed in one season that's pretty impressive. It has been mainly the players that were signed for the here and now that have not lived upto expectations. In addition to those I'd like to see us sign a proven goalscorer, goalkeeper, CB, LB. I don't think 10 new signings would be an excess.

I can't believe people are suggesting the likes of Tom Cairney, the guy is 33 and we've had far too many come for a final pay day in recent years, and in my mind the same goes for Keiffer Moore
If we are going to hunt around league 1 it needs to be for forwards like Ricky-Jade Jones, miles Leaburn or Harvey Knibbs. Young, up and coming and hungry
In midfield I'd be looking at players like Archie Collins, again young and hungry
